Queen Nancy Clancy

While I clean up pretty nicely when the occasion calls for it, the truth is that I'm probably the least fancy, most casual person I know. Frills and flounces just aren't my thing. So nearly 15 years ago, when my nieces wanted me to read them a book called "Fancy Nancy" (2005) with a little girl all sparkly and befeathered on the cover, I was prepared to be seriously underwhelmed. I was wrong. Jane O'Connor and Robin Preiss Glasser's "Fancy Nancy" and its subsequent sequels and spinoffs have become a genuine worldwide publishing phenomenon for good reason. While Nancy's love of frou-frou things may not be to my personal taste, her penchant for wonderfully extravagant vocabulary absolutely is. And in this original story, which emphasizes the importance of interdependence on those we love, trying new things, and picking ourselves up after a fall, Nancy is as endearing a character as I've ever encountered. ⚫ ⚫ ⚫ #noodlenutsclassickidlit #fancynancy #fancynancyclancy #nancyclancy #janeoconnor #robinpreissglasser #vocabulary #fancy #dressupplay #creativeplay #girlygirls #igreads #everythingpink #whattoread #screenfree #kidsread #childrensbookart #kidsbookswelove #childhoodfavourite #readitagain #kidslovebooks #readoutloud https://www.instagram.com/p/B71WXATH0ud/?igshid=11jpnf8s02l5x
