Alright people, I have returned! I know all 20 people that were dilligently reading my reviews are rejoicing! With the beginning of filming season 5, SDCC, and all the fun picture’s coming out my brain has once again been taken over by all things “The 100” (aka “The 101 counting Bellamy”). I’m jumping back into my reviews with episode 1x07 aka “Contents Under Pressure” aka easily one of my top 10 favorite episodes of this show. Get ready for the gushing, get ready for the Bellarke feels and get ready for the SPOILERS. (I had to get that in there). I WILL be talking about season 4. I mean if you haven’t watched season 4 yet what are you even doing with your life?! But I digress. OK, (Mario Voice) Here we go!
-Raven created a radio out of spare parts that communicated with a space station in the SKY. She is a genius. Never forget that.
-Kane vs. Abby. Oh the memories.
-ok but like I’m annoyed that Raven got the comms working from earth and Clarke couldn’t and bell thinks she’s dead and i’ve digressed….
-Definitely a note of pride in Sinclair’s voice when he confirms the signal coming from earth.
-Literally probably the last mention of Wells (until season 4) and I’m not ok with that. #wellswasreal
-Kane realizing the consequences of their decisions.
-MILLER
-I keep forgetting what a terrible person Diana Sydney is. Like she is a horrible human.
-Lets talk about Clarke basically performing surgery at 17…
-I love how Bellamy is asking Lincoln questions like “Where is your camp? How many of you are there?” Like Linc is just gonna be like “well you take a left at the trees and a right at the lincoln memorial statue and there you are. Theres about 75 of us…”
-I wonder what Lincoln thought of Bellamy and Clarke. Like they are peak married in this scene. I just want him to lean into Miller and be like “so these two?”
-I really miss Vera Kane. Like she was a little cooky but she knew whats up.
-I think this was the beginning of the turning point in Kane and I am so glad to have been on this journey with him.
-I love how Miller takes like 1 second to let Clarke in.
-Eliza (and Bob, TBH) not being able to say “our” in an american accent is just hilarious.
-The iconic moment where Bellamy looks to Clarke before he steps over the line and she gives him the nod.
-“I lost my son!” is Jaha’s greatest line in this entire show. (ok obvs besides “you keep her centered”) It is perhaps the only time we see any real emotion from him. Any connection to the world. Most times he just seems like a cold robot but this one time he allows himself to be transparent. Such a good delivery by Isaiah.
-Ugg, Sydney being a lying liar that lies.
-Meanwhile, in crazy town, meet Raven.
-ok i genuinely LOVE Lincoln and Octavia together but i never understood how he was so in love with her after never even really speaking to her and only seeing her at a distance for a few days.
-Also not to be ignored is the Clarke/Finn relationship. Like i get their immediate attraction, etc. but she doesn't LOVE him. She’s only known him for like 3 days…
-Momma Kane (insert crying emoji)
-ok I don’t care if Linctavia isn’t believable. I LOVE THEM
-Can Miller’s beanie come back in season 5? like puleeeezzze
-“Who we are and we need to be to survive are very different things” BOOM Icon Alert!
-Not to be outdone by “its not easy being in charge is it?” no it isnt! BUT that is why ya’ll have eachother!
-“We are on the titanic and there aren’t enough life boats” greatest way to end an episode.
Well, we made it through! So much happened this episode and really it set the pace for the next few episodes. The Raven-Clarke-Finn dynamic, the Clarke vs Abby dynamic and all the political mess going on up in space. Not to mention this is the moment Clarke really becomes a co-leader with Bellamy. The first time they have to make this decision together to do something they wouldn't normally have done. I maintain that if Clarke had not wanted Bellamy to continue torturing Lincoln he would have stopped. At this point, he already values her opinion and her input. Also the times they are a changing on the Ark. We are starting to empathize with Kane as he realizes the consequences to his decisions and we are starting to see how cold and closed off Jaha has made himself to take on this leadership role (“Leadership is a lonely pursuit”).
TOTALS:
Number of major surgeries completed by a teenager while being in instructed over a walkie talkie: definitely zero ya’ll. hard zero.
Number of metal old worn out contraptions that could actually survive a hurricane: Evidentially 1 (the dropship. Which leads me to my point- THE DROPSHIP COULD SURVIVE PRAIMFAYA).
I give this episode 4 council pins out of 5 council pins.
Annnnd We are back! Wednesday means another entry in my 100 re-watch saga. Thanks to everybody that has read my first few entries, ya’ll rock!
Obligatory explanation for what it is I’m doing: HERE
Obligatory THERE WILL BE SPOILERS FOR SEASONS 1-4 SO LEGIT IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN THROUGH TO SEASON 4 TURN BACK NOW!
-These flashbacks were both awesome and very very sad.
-I almost wish we were able to see more of these through the years.
-Also does anybody remember when Jaha and Abby were supposed to be a thing- its like they foreshadowed it like woah but then they decided to make Jaha crazy instead.
-This scene with Clarke and Jasper is just making me more annoyed that they never got closure in season 4. I think this was definitely one of the downsides of only having 13 episodes. They weren’t able to give Jasper those ending moments with anybody but Monty.
-I shall refer to Charlotte as Madi #1 aka Bellarke’s first child, obvs.
-Is there anybody on this show who did NOT have a parent that was floated? Not being funny, just on the real…
-Murphy both sucks and is also awesome. I don’t know how but its murphy and I feel like thats the only explanation needed.
-Ugg I keep forgetting Finn exists. Stupid Finn.
-Monty is still the best.
-Did Octavia and Atom even have a ship name? Atavia? Octaviom?
-The entire conversation that Bellamy and Clarke have about Jasper could be lifted out of this scene and put into season 4 (and 3 for that matter) and still have such relevance.
-Also the first time Clarke and Bell talk about hope.
-These flashback Jake and Abby scenes are just everything.
-I miss Wells. There, I said it.
-“This is Earth Clarke, anything is possible.”
-ALSO the SASS from Wells towards Finn. Ugg He was just the best.
-Tell me a time Bellamy Blake wasn’t weak for a little girl. There will never be one. I’m so interested to see how he interacts with Madi.
-I never thought about this but noticed before but are Wells and Clarke in a chess class? Like they are just sitting in a room full of people playing chess?!
-side note: where did she get actual diamond earrings on the ark?!
-When you remember they are teenagers and they found alcohol…
-Bell has already adopted Madi #1 at this point. He’s going to rename her Athena or Penelope or something…
-Also Bell giving us a peak into his psyche and why he does what he does.
-“Remember that time you betrayed me and got my father executed?” Clarke is NOT having it.
-Wells letting Clarke hate him is like the saddest thing in this entire show.
-Annnnd Clarke is an angry drunk.
-Also her saying “ I have no idea how to do that” when Finn suggests she take it easy is THE. MOST. TRUTH. EVER.
-Re-watching the scene where Monty stops Murphy from killing Jasper is SO GOOD to watch after that scene in Praimfaya.
-”I made a choice. And if she hates me for the rest of my life I made the right choice.” UGG WELLS WHY????
-I feel like upon first watch I THOUGHT this Atom scene was such a turning point for the show. and it was, it showed who Clarke was as a person, who Bellamy was and was the Catalyst for their understanding of each other. But I had no idea the real turning point was coming later.
-Also the directing in this scene was top notch.
-The first head vs. heart moment in the show.
-I always cry in the Jake floating scene. The saddest.
-Ok, last rant about Jasper’s death. Octavia says to him “not you, you're not allowed to die” and then we don’t even KNOW if she KNOWS IF HE IS DEAD CURRENTLY! like what the heck guys?!
-Literally terrible idea to watch this episode after watching “The other side” TERRIBLE IDEA. I am a puddle.
-Madi #1 being all suspicious. but Wells just assumed the best in people.
-And THAT was the game changer moment of the show. Before this moment it was just another teen show on the CW but this moment, they weren’t afraid to kill a main character off and it was such a catalyst for the entire show.
-RIP WELLS !! #allthetears #webarelyknewye
And thats a Wrap on Earth Kills. This episode was one that is incredibly hard to watch and not think of season 4 in. All the debates about Jasper. Is he worth it? Is he a lost cause? How do we know if there is still hope? These were all so important towards the end of Jasper’s life and its interesting to see this debate so early in the show. This episode was such a game changer episode and so early in the season but it worked. I feel like I had an idea on the trajectory of the show and my idea completely changed after this episode.
TOTALS:
Number of times I cried and screamed “Wells deserved better!”- 43
Number of bottles of 100 year old whisky I wish I had to take on this dramatic episode-5…6 would just be too much.
VERDICT:
4 chess pieces out of 5 chess pieces.
Welcome to “Janna re-watches things”. This journey began as I was re-watching “Lost” for like the 3rd time and thinking so many things to myself. Basically my opinion had changed very drastically from my first viewing(for example knowing the Sawyer/Kate storyline was basically going to be dropped after the time jump I tried not to invest in them as much. I failed. But I TRIED and trying is IMPORTANT). I thought about sharing all my random opinions with the world at large but live tweeting seemed like a lot for a re-watch. So I came here, this will be basically my random thoughts upon re-watching my shows. Now I know what ya’ll are expecting my first show to be- “Lost” but no that would be incorrect. I’m currently addicted to “The 100″. I mean seriously, its like 75% of what I think about every day ( along with trying to match my eyeliner on both eyes and what I’m having for dinner). Since the season 4 finale basically killed me and I have to live through this hiatus, my first show will be “The 100″.
The rules are as follows:
1.I’m not binging, I’m watching 2 episodes a week.
2.Wednesday nights are the nights because they are already my “The 100″ nights out of habit so I might as well stick with that (spoiler: I hate change).
3.I will try and keep my posts more of a stream of conscious like a live tweet.
4. I won’t take myself too seriously, because really, this isn’t rocket science (I’m not Raven Reyes, come on guys).
Finally, this should go without saying but I’m basically an idiot when it comes to tumblr. Like i have no idea what i’m doing, so patience will be a virtue. I also can’t promise this won’t turn into a tangent blog of how awesome Bellamy Blake is, because obvs.
Alright ya’ll thats all for now and I will see you tomorrow night when I post my re-watch for 1x01 and 1x02 (”Pilot” and “Earth Skills”).
