をvsで What's the difference?
Hi everyone! 皆さん、こんにちは!
So today I'd share the difference between the particle を and で, specifically for the below sentences.
公園(こうえん) を 散歩(さんぽ)する
公園(こうえん) で 散歩(さんぽ)する
The above sentences is one of the most common mistakes made by Japanese language learners.
First, let's talk about を. を in this sentence refers to the act of walking around the whole park, hence it is the correct answer.
で usage is more limited. If you use で, there is a nuance that the act of strolling the park is only limited to a certain part of the park. Like you're walking around at the same place over and over again.
English is my 2nd language lol so 言いたいのは 「で」 を使うと、同じところをぐるぐる回るというイメージがあります。
To conclude, で is not wrong but because its usage is limited, we use を.
