Jarai Ijaa, Mando Sith, traitor to her species
I share custody of this child with @sunsetofdoom
Jarai’s story starts long before she is born. A Mandalorian family fights not because they must but because it’s a challenge and their enemy is fierce. But instead of trophies they find an infant, now an orphan. They don’t feel guilty for killing the baby’s parents, but they take her in as their own out of respect for the enemies who gave them a hell of a fight. They name her Dinui, and they raise her to be a warrior.
Rial/Jarai: Very accidental allies
Jarai doesn't really care about the Jedi one way or another, but even she thinks that her Master is taking it too far by deciding to work with the Barsen'thor. Zakuul's invasion calls for desperate measures, sure, but are they that desperate? Sadly, Jarai is still an apprentice, she doesn’t get to make decisions. All she can do is stay vigilant. Eventually, what bugs her the most isn’t the fact that the Jedi have always been the enemies of the Sith. No, she discovers that there’s something worse ― Barsen'thor has an insufferable Force-blind sister.
Rial can say that she's not a xenophobe all she likes, but she looks down on everyone who's not a Chiss. “Primitives,” she says under her breath, rolling her eyes. Jarai wants to grab her by the shoulders and shake that condescending attitude out of her, but she grits her teeth instead. Jarai is many things, but she is not impulsive. She reminds herself that she will be free of her unwanted allies once Arcann and his fleet are gone ― all the more reason to fight harder.
Rial continues to act like she’s the smartest person here, even though she knows so little about the world outside of Chiss space. When Jarai’s patience runs out and she towers over her, not knowing what she is going to do, Rial isn’t afraid. Rial blushes. And Jarai suddenly realizes that an insufferable personality is not the only thing that frustrates her about the Chiss girl. She hates this realization with a burning passion of a true Sith.
