More Is More: A Gucci Inspired Fashion Story

Model Alencia Lewis recently reached out to me about updating her portfolio. I work with models quite a bit to develop their portfolios, so I was expecting the normal go-bys with neutral backdrops and neutral timeless wardrobe. Alecia had other plans, and I couldn’t be happier with how things turned out. She has been modeling for years, so she didn’t need any more basics in her portfolio. She wanted something different and attention grabbing. She sent me and the team some great inspiration shots from Gucci campaigns, and we went from there. Wardrobe was pulled together by Kristin McIntyre and makeup was done by Heather Fitzgerald. We had such a fun time on this shoot, and I think we created some really stand-out images for Alencia’s portfolio.

Shine On: A Fashion Story 

I recently worked with wardrobe stylist Sally Stegall on a fashion test in my new studio space in Dallas at WELD. We work together pretty frequently on client shoots, and we thought it would be fun to collaborate on something for our personal portfolios. My wife, and the makeup artist for this shoot, Heather Fitzgerald  threw out the idea to have the common thread for the shoot be metallic or reflective wardrobe. Sally ran with it, and I think we ended up with some pretty nice images. We worked with model Mariah Hesselgesser from Kim Dawson, and she was great. Let me know what you all think of this shoot.

Athleisure: A Fashion Story

This was my first shoot in the new studio I am working out of in Dallas. I moved in this month, and I wanted to test lighting and have some fun with friends shooting a quick fashion story. I texted wardrobe stylist Tara Boyette to see if she was up for putting together some funky athleisure looks, and she said she  was down to play in the new studio. Then came the challenge: it was Saturday and the only day we both had available was Monday. We had two days to pull together the concept and find a model over the weekend when the agencies are closed. Luckily, I had just wrapped up editing a beauty session with model Haley Sheffield from The Campbell Agency, and she came right to mind. My wife (and hair/makeup artist for this shoot) quickly reached out to her, and thankfully she was available. It was such a fun group to work with because everyone knew each other, and it was just a really laid back vibe. Haley was a champ when it came to pushing it with the posing. We had her jumping all over the place and balancing on apple boxes, and she was totally game. I’m glad I had a chance to navigate the new studio before client projects, and I think the images came out really cool.

Laura Nichols Commercial Headshot Session

I recently worked with Laura Nichols from Callidus Agency. She has been in the fashion division at Callidus for a while now and wants to expand into commercial work. When she reached out about hiring me for her commercial headshots, I was excited because I had worked with her a few times before on beauty shoots, and she is really fun to work with. We shot at WELD, which is a shared studio space in Dallas that I work from. I am new to the studio, and this was my first natural light commercial headshot in the space. It was so nice to be able to work with the beautiful light in the studio. My last studio, which I had worked from for 2.5 years did not have ample window light to shoot actor and commercial headshots, so the majority of my headshot work has been with artificial light. I am excited to work on more headshots in the new space since natural light really brings the subject to life and creates a much more natural look.
