Triggers: none Your muse would be a Land & Property Developer who has recently arrived in Sedona. The lure of untapped potential has piqued their interest. Perhaps your muse keeps their job/intentions secret while they get a lay of the land? They have been in town long enough to identify potential, as well as bearing witness to the war among citizens; development versus preservation of Sedona.  They could either have their own development company or work for someone else. Maybe it’s their family’s legacy / business.  Your muse’s connection to Bella started back when they were living in Quebec as children. They were besties with secret handshakes, snack/lunch swapping, pinkie promises, birthday parties, big dreams, and made up games & languages. They know her as Rosabel Wallace, and they would have last seen each other when they were around 8 years old. There’s so many years and distance between them that it will be interesting to see what possibilities could stem from them getting to know one another again. As a journalist Bella’s investigations into the developers could put them at odds at some point.

BACKGROUND

He entered Nadia’s life during a period of major upheaval. After moving from Sedona to California with her mother, just shy of twenty, she was leaving behind her teenage years, her home, and the memories she had lost in a car accident. She initially chased a music career and even had a taste of success with a hit single, but the momentum quickly faded. A few years later, as she pivoted into modeling, that’s when she met him. At the time, he was successful, wealthy, and polished — the kind of man her mother had always insisted would provide the stability and security Nadia “deserved.” On the surface, he offered financial comfort, social respectability, and a sense of order that was appealing to Nadia. Their connection began with promise. When Nadia became pregnant with Tomás, he proposed, and for a time their relationship was loving and supportive. They focused on the baby and building a life together, and those early years were steady and happy. But over time, cracks began to appear. Infidelity, unmet expectations, and simmering resentments slowly eroded what had once been solid. Their passion remained, but it became volatile.. fiery arguments, on and off patterns, and emotional tension turned their marriage into something toxic. Counselling offered little relief, and what had started as love and commitment gradually became a mix of attachment, frustration, and unresolved anger. Now, more than a year into their divorce, he continues to be a steady presence for Tomás. Their interactions are careful and measured, but the shared bond through their son keeps them connected in ways neither can fully escape. THINGS TO NOTE... whether he is from Sedona or not is up to you. I imagine his family background to be wealthy, or maybe he made it on his own at a young age. But he was someone Nadia's money hungry mother approved of instantly bc of his financial security. When they met, they lived in California all this time until their divorce, when Nadia decided to move back home. Tomás was born and raised in California (predominantly Los Angeles). I had it in my mind that he was still living in Cali up until recently, and that Tomás was often being flown back to spend time with his dad. But maybe there's some resentment there, for his parents marriage ending and the fact he had to up and move his entire life? Why he's in town is entirely up to you. How old he is is entirely up to you though I pictured them to be a similar age, or he's older! They were married for 16 years! Shortly before she had Tomás, who is 16 now. Maybe together for a similar timeframe! She would've been 21 when she met him and/or got together with him. Overall I see this as a fun, angsty connection!!! And messy AF!

BACKGROUND

Triggers: death, car accident, grief. Nineteen years ago, Nadia was the girl who survived (along with two other males). The accident that took her best friend's life carved a line straight through her own.. she remembers flashes now, headlights cutting through desert dark, laughter and loud music.. the taste of cheap beer and wind. But the rest of it, the crash, the screams, the silence.. exists only in fragments in her mind. For years, she's lived with the version her mother told her after they left town. Only upon her return to Sedona recently did fragments of the truth start to take shape again, and with it came ghosts of the past. The family of her best friend have always been one of them. Maybe it's her best friend's brother, the boy who used to drive them places, annoyed at having to drive his little sister and best friend around. Or maybe it's her sister who grew up carrying that loss like a wound she never let heal. Maybe even a parent who can't look at Nadia without seeing everything they lost. Whoever it is, the air between them is thick with memory... grief, blame, guilt, maybe a mix of all three. Completely open to interpretation! Maybe they see her as the girl who walked away from the wreck, or maybe they're drawn to her despite themselves. Or maybe they've been waiting nineteen years to say things they never could. There's room for tension, anger, and for an ANGSTY connection (my fave!!!). They're bound by the same tragedy, two halves of a story that neither of them have ever truly finished.
