Title: Is this Wonderland?
Warning(s): Intox, dubious consent, incest (i mean is this really a warning)
Pairings: jayduke, dukedami, jaydami
Duke is hanging out in the library when Jason finds them. Jason, for being such a big man, moves so silently that it scares Duke every time.
It’s annoying sometimes, to be so far behind their siblings. They know that it's not their fault, that they have only just started this, only just become a member of the family recently. They know that compared to civilians, they are silent, they make no noise.
Their friends have all commented on it, all talked about how quietly Duke moves now, and sometimes it’s nice, being so quiet because only other bats notice them, and sometimes it reminds Duke of how much further away they are from their family, and hurts.
“Hey Duchess,” Jason says easily, dropping down on the chair next to them, “Whatcha reading?”
They close their book and smile at the larger man. “Picture of Dorian Gray. It’s required for English class.” Jason smiles and pulls out- something that Duke isn’t all that sure of. It looks like a vape but they know that Jason doesn’t use nic anymore.
“Do you like it so far?” Jason asks curiously, taking the book from their hands and examining it gently. Their older brother has always been gentle with books and it warms Duke’s heart every time.
They shrug, taking the book back. “I like it but honestly it’s been hard to focus these past few weeks. I’ve been tired, you know?” It’s not really a question but they ask it like one anyways.
Jason smiles gently at them, like he knows something they don’t but Jason always smiles like that, always seems to know a little bit more than everyone else. It’s both reassuring on the field and generally creepy otherwise.
“Is there a reason that you’ve come to interrupt my reading with your,” they make a vague sort of gesture, a here there, “pen?”
Jason smiles soft and serene, well, as serene as he ever gets.
“You’re smart. You have a brain don’t you? Use it.” From anyone else it would be an insult but from him it’s affectionate. They reach over to smack Jason on the side, though the larger man doesn’t even flinch.
“I’m really not sure Jay, I thought you weren’t allowed to smoke weed in the manor so I’m not sure why you’re here.”
“You’re sure it's weed then?”
“I know that you quit nicotine and I’ve seen pens like those before usually being used for weed. It’s really not that hard to make the connection.”
Jason grins at them, all sharpness and the gotham that lives in his soul, in his lungs, in his laugh and his smile wells up.
“I told you that you’re a good detective duchess, you just didn’t believe me.” Duke rolls their eyes and smiles.
“That wasn’t an answer to my question,” they remind him, and Jason waves their worries away like he always does.
“No, I guess it wasn’t.” Duke raises an eyebrow and for a minute they feel exactly like how their mom used to when she was trying to get information out of them. It’s a strange sort of feeling.
“You want to get me high,” They guess and Jason’s smile turns predatory.
“It can help with stress and anxiety,” Jason tells him gently, slightly less mean than before.
“I don’t want-,” They stutter and stop to think for a second. “I don't want to impair my abilities. What if something happens?”
Jason laughs, “You sounded like Damian there.” They pout and Jason laughs aloud again, the sound like the bells of the only church in Gotham.
Duke frowns and considers. One one hand their mother would kill them for ever daring to try weed before turning twenty one (she was a big believer in rules that made sense to her) but on the other hand, they’re so tired and so stressed and the world feels much too big today.
They know that Jason would take care of them, that he wouldn’t do anything to hurt them ever, except maybe during training.
They sigh a deep sigh and really, genuinely consider, “Alright, I’ll try it.”
"Have you done anything like this before?” Jason asks gently as he rolls a blunt, probably already knowing the answer.
“My mother was big on rules that made sense to her so no there, and where would I have gotten weed after moving to the manor?”
Jason laughs a little and Duke is reminded of the first time they kissed and how lovely it was.
Duke hums as they watch Jason's steady movements, giggling a little when Jason takes a large drag. It’s pretty on him, they decide but as Damian often says, there is beauty in everything their partners do. Damian, despite pretending not to be, is a huge softy for all of them.
Jason hands them the pen instead of the blunt and yet Duke does not ask because they trust their brother, trust him with everything and anything that they are. They examine it first, curious as to how it works and Jason grins, all sharp teeth and smirk.
They consider one last time if this really is a good idea before bringing the pen to their mouth.
Jason laughs, the sound a little mean when they cough a little bit and set the pen down delicately and cough a little more. “Why do you do that Jason, that fucking sucked.”
“C’mon sweetheart,” Jason coos, “I know you’re smarter than that, more capable than that, so try it again.” It’s mean in the way that makes Duke shiver.
“I don,t- I really think I should pass maybe. My throat hurts and it was a lot,” Jason looks at them and they know suddenly they aren’t getting out of this. There’s a sort of pecking order in the family and while Jason isn’t the very top (Dick and Damian are) but he’s close, closer than Duke and that means that Duke has to listen to him.
“Come on Duchess,” Jason’s smile turns to a frown, “Once you know what you’re doing it isn’t actually that bad.”
Duke doesn’t really say anything, trying to avoid their fate as long as possible. Jason grins again, and they can’t help their pout. Slowly, projecting their movements, Jason pulls them out of their chair and into his lap. It’s nice, warm and for a moment Duke pretends like everything is normal, that they aren’t a member of the meanest crime family on either of the coasts, that they aren’t being fucked by all their ‘siblings’, that the world is normal. It’s fine, they remind themself, that there is always an out, that if they really want out all they have to say is ‘red’ and Jason will back off.
Duke looks at Jason, a little bit unimpressed but they can’t help being attracted to Jason as he takes another drag. Suddenly there is a mouth on their own and they’re opening theirs out of habit.
They relax into Jason almost immediately (well trained aren’t you?) and Jason smiles into their mouth as the smoke comes in. They inhale almost a little desperately, and can’t help smiling a little bit because it’s much better this way, less overwhelming and more enjoyable. They try to separate but Jason doesn’t let them, exhaling more smoke into Duke’s mouth, as much as he can. They’re probably as flushed as they ever get.
“How’d you feel about that sweetheart? Hmm?”
“I liked that a lot better,” they admit quietly, trying to look away from Jason.
Jason shrugs, “Dick taught me right before… everything, and I figured I should pass it down to you.”
“I didn’t know that Dick smokes."
“He does this to Damian all the time.” Jason takes another hit of the pen and breathes it into their mouth.
Duke is calmer, much more relaxed this time. They move more into Jason’s lap eager, a little more welcoming, sucking the smoke from their brother’s mouth. It tastes like him, just a little bit and maybe Duke is getting a little hard but that’s neither here nor there. Jason is suddenly moving them more into his lap, holding tighter, meaner and Duke moans, taking in a lot more smoke. Jason never ever puts a hand in their hair (they’d let him do anything right now) but he does but a hand around their neck and lick straight into their mouth like it’s his job, like there is nothing more important in the world then this.
A smile tugs at their lips and they make a face for a moment, letting Jason laugh at them. “Damian and Dick do this a lot, really?”
“You know those two can’t keep their hands off of each other.”
Jason takes another hit and feeds it into their mouth again, and Duke is feeling it. They’re a little dizzy and tired, and so done with the world today. They feel better then before though so they’re thankful for that.
Duke is floating when they hear another voice, one that isn’t Jason’s. Jason feeds them another hit and how many has it been now? How much have they smoked?
“Really Todd?” It’s someone, and honestly Duke doesn’t care as long as Jason keeps kissing them like he has been soft and a little mean. It’s the best thing in the world, the only thing in the world right now. They wanna stay here in this far away place.
“Aren’t they so pretty like this though?” Duke wonders, are they talking about them?
“Duke is always beautiful. What did you do?”
“I just helped them calm down demon brat. Chill.”
Jason kisses them again and is there smoke this time? Duke decides that they don’t care, that this is everything they’ve ever wanted and everything that they’ve ever needed, that this is all they are and everything that they will ever be. Jason bites down and it feels so good that they moan and it's everything that duke has ever needed.
“Come on, you’re gonna tell me you don’t want them?”
“I won’t start anything but they’ve been grinding on my leg for the past thirty minutes. Duke is totally greened out and it’s kinda cute actually.”
“You just have a kink for this and you know that.”
“Never denied it sweetheart, I happen to like my limbs thank you, and besides we have their blanket consent.”
“Fine.” There’s a rustling and suddenly they're being moved and they get to watch Damian kiss Jason mean and hard and they moan, higher than they usually would.
Damian laughs meanly, and the last thing they remember is hands on their body like they belong there, and them, surrendering to the feeling.
