▬ first person point of view

Ever since I gave Jay a “yes”, Jay became mine and I became his. Things with Jay were going really smooth. Despite how he’s always occupied, he did seem to be sweet, funny, supportive- just the boyfriend material anyone could ask for.

It was perfect. If I were to be honest, well, a little too perfect, actually.. But, as time went by, I slowly forgot about my suspicions. He was treating me right, after all. It may seem ‘too perfect’ but still, why would I complain. Again, as I slowly forgot about my suspicions, the walls I’ve built between us slowly came down too. It must be normal for a significant other to act like that, after all.

Every moment with him made me feel the happiest. Romantic dates, walks, picnics, and even vacations! Spontaneous moments in the middle of the night and his charm putting me under their mesmerizing spell. Plus, not to mention all the gifts he’d often shower me with. The finest jewelry, gold, diamonds, and many more. He had me wrapped around his finger before I even realized it. I kept falling deeper and deeper in love with him. I never once thought of hopping to break free of his grasp. Though I thought everything was perfect and fine, yet, things did slowly start to change.

At first, I did think that it would be crazy of me to even think like that. He’s my boyfriend after all, we’ve been together for months, and I was the one who chose to give him a “yes”. It’s bullshit. What kind of person would even dare to think of their significant other who treats them like they’re a rare gem in that way? That was the last thing I wanted to do. Think of him like he has a mask covering what he truly desires. I’d always tell myself “It’s all fine. Everything’s alright.” well, it’s true, isn’t it? wrong.

Although looking back, a few things that had happened seemed to have caught my attention. For one thing, he always knew exactly where I was, despite not even telling him. He would even hold me even tighter just when another man is nearby.

It felt like he always had his eyes on me. Then again, I’d then start to tell myself “It’s probably normal, though. It must be.” I was probably just overthinking. Everything’s fine.
