i do love how jaynestown is like . 35 minutes of hilarity followed by the most depressing nihilistic denouement you've ever seen... like girl,
#firefly#jaynestown#every time i see reactors be like oh man i thought he learned his lesson from jaynestown i'm like#WHAT gave you that impression with all due respect lol#it's solemn but the episode ends with him reinforcing his own cynical worldview that everyone looks out for only themsleves#and utterly confused by the sacfrice made for him as a result#bc it's easier than contending with the fact that NO not everyone is just looking out for themselves#and two people died that day that didn't need to as direct results of jayne's choices#of COURSE he turned the tams in in ariel lol#the river context of it all aside#if he truly contends with All Of That it recontextualizes his entire life#in a way he is not ready to do#having jayne thoughts and feelings on this eve
