My convoluted fan theory between Jayce’s surname and Viktor’s blanket
Because I like to read into things and come to oddly specific, bordering-on-manic, conclusions about everything JayVik.
Ok, stick with me here.

ARCANE SEASON 2 SPOILERS:
Guys I think the reason Viktor reverts to his Academy uniform here:
Is because when the explosion went off in the council room, he DIED. His spine had been severed. And when Jayce used the hexcore to bring him back? What was the last thing he was wearing when he died?
His Academy Uniform!!!
The Viktor that came back wasn’t the same Viktor, as seen by his muted emotions and sense of self, along with the physical changes such as his eyes, the “windows to the soul”
But when Jayce breaks through the Machine Herald to Viktor and brings him back, out of the influence of the Hexcore, he reverts back to himself, and his eyes turn back to normal!
And that’s why he’s in the academy uniform at the end — that’s the last time we saw Viktor out of the influence of the core (you could also argue that it was back in Season 1 before Sky’s death). That and the poetic nature of Jayce and Viktor going back to their roots and ending the story as partners together against the world, completing the cycle.
I hope you enjoyed my little theory!
I only noticed the defeated Jayce's eye movement when I was taking screenshots and it's so sad.
Maybe Viktor was only controlling his movements as a puppet, but I think Jayce's spirit is still there. Imagine that they can only communicate in a disembodied form and that Viktor comes to him, alone in this broken world, consumed by guilt. And how at first Jayce is angry with him for what he has done, but over time he begins to sympathize and calm him down.
And my heart starts to ache from how tenderly Viktor touches his Jayce.
I need a fic about it
@savvyn_t on twitter and I had the same thought that the mage's hands resembled Viktor's a bit and Viktor gave Jayce his crystal more than once so here is a wild theory (where we ignore that fact that MH Viktor has at least one metal hand):
At a point where Jayce is long gone and immortal old little Viktor thinks back at what they had and what was important to them, he realizes one thing. He then goes back in time to do his old friend one last big favour...
