How subtle would my voice drop be if I lowered it through practice? Cause I want a lower voice but I don't want questions to come up

If you’re only ‘manually’ dropping your voice so to speak, through training and not through hormone therapy, you may not be able to get it very low. But even so, people might still question it or comment on it.

I have practically no voice control at all and in the past I have kind of lowered it by accident a few times. And every time people have instantly picked up on it and mocked me for it.

So if you want to lower it enough for it to be, well, noticeably lower? Then other people are likely also going to notice. And that comes with the risk of them asking questions about it.

You might be able to deflect some of those questions by saying that you have a cold or a sore throat, but that may not work in all cases.

It’s also perhaps worth noting that manually lowering your voice will likely not be permanent. So you may very well be able to go back to spekaing in a higher pitch around people who you would feel unsafe speaking in a lower pitch around, if you would need to do so.

Good vibes: Today my friends and I are hanging out & I'm staying the night @ one of the friend's house, which means that I'm going to be called Jasper (or at least attempted to be called Jasper cause it will be the first time my friend's parents will know I'm trans)! So a full day/night of being called Jasper and peopls using he/him pronouns for me😁😁🎉🎉

Can I have some validation please? My dad keeps being transphobic and homophobic & I can't do anything without him being suspicious. I just want some valididation that I'm not a huge mess-up

You’re absolutely not a mess-up. It’s not in any way your fault that your dad is transphobic & homophobic. You’re not personally responsible for other people’s asshattery.

Having to put up with people like that can wear you down, I know that, but it’s not your fault that they are that way. And it’s not your responsibility to try to change them.

Doing what you need to do to stay safe never makes you a “mess-up”. Even if that means letting shitty opinions go unquestioned.
