the thing about dodie's music that always has a vice grip on me is how alive it sounds. it's like the instrumental is living and breathing and feeling all that she is trying to convey, less like a performance and more like an echo of what she is feeling and no I don't know how to explain it in a less metaphorical way
POV: it’s 2016 and you don’t have many friends
I don’t want to talk about your car’s extended warranty I just want to talk about the performance of “Wild Mountain Thyme” done by Laufey, dodie, Jacob Collier, and the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center
And the best part about this isn’t even the fact that three award-winning singers collabed on this project, nor is it the majesty of the orchestra
it’s the way that Jacob stops in the middle to turn to the audience to direct them in 3-part harmony and they make something so beautiful and human
I’m never gonna stop thinking about this
we're being FED
Not For Lack Of Trying 🫡
