Pride swells in his chest, almost too thick to breathe. A suffocating admiration Sam rarely had the opportunity to witness let alone experience, and for a moment he wonders if he's dreaming or if someone is playing some kind of joke on him. When was the last time his father gave positive feedback? Sam can’t remember. Definitely not in relation to hunting... Maybe he's still a bit in shock at the current compliment his father has unexpectedly bestowed upon him. It’s such a small turn of phrase and yet it stirs such light and warmth. Sam would give anything to live in that moment for just a few minutes longer, but he knows just as soon as it's said, the moment is over. Of course, he'll remember this. How could he not? ❝ Thanks, I didn't think y' had much time to catch any of that.. ❞ He gives a small nod, and a sheepish smile threatens to spread across his face as he speaks.

John and Dean had been going back and forth for the past fifteen minutes about whether or not Dean should or could go out on a hunt alone. The kid was eighteen. It wasn't like he was twelve asking to go hunt a damn vampire by himself and Dean was getting frustrated. His father even said he was a damn good hunter, almost as good as John himself. Shit, Dean bullseyed every can that was lined up when he was seven.

"Are you listening, Dad? Are you really?" Dean knew better than to talk back. John raised Dean to be an obedient soldier. Not a smart ass. "Because I feel like it's going in one ear and out the next," Dean grunted as he shrugged on one of his plaid shirts that he pulled out from his duffle bag. "I'm not a kid anymore, Dad. I'm eighteen almost nineteen. I've been in this life since I was four. I've known my shit since I was four because you drilled it into my brain."

Why was he even arguing? Why not just take the Impala keys and go? Because John would hand Dean his ass. That's why. "I've done my research on this case. You've seen me do research for the past week and it's in the area. You just finished a case that you wouldn't let me help you on for some damn reason, so let me prove to you that I can take on a werewolf case. I know my shit and I'm not going to get killed."

Alex had just freshly gotten her GED from school at the age of sixteen. Yes, she was very intelligent and she was at the top of her class no matter what school she went to. Some schools she was there for a couple of weeks and others she was there for a couple months. It all depended on how long the case was that her father and uncle were working on, so she tried not to get attached to anyone. Especially any boys. Her father would have a fit.

Alex had been on a demon case with her father while her uncle stayed back at the motel to do some research. During the hunt, because of how big the farm area was, Alex had gotten separated from her father and, yeah, she freaked out a little bit, but gained back her composure. She wasn't in full control of her demon side, but she was always working on it with Sam.

Alex had been on one side of the farm property, near an old and crumbling silo, and, if she had to guess, her father was on the opposite end. It was a little too quiet and it was easy for Alex to know who was actually a demon and who wasn't. She could see their true faces after all. The teenager was pulled out of her thoughts when he heard crumbling from around the silo, her heart racing. She didn't even flinch when she heard gunshots in the distance. Now she knew where her father was.

Cocking her gun back and holding it tight in both hands, Alex stood her ground, ready to shoot the demon as soon as it showed its ugly mug, her gun held straight out in front of her.

ㅤㅤ❝𝓝ah, I get it... This isn't the best apartment*. A lot of questionable people... other than myself... The rent is cheap and it's four walls. Despite those four walls being thinner than I'd like and the police have been through the building a few times... So I'm not overly surprised that there's something with the gas lines.❞ Sydney explained in a not entirely brief manner. But she was certain that it was going in one ear and out the other with the man. As gullible as she was from time to time, she couldn't ignore lingering spirits hanging around the man telling her a couple things like the man being a hunter of cryptids and that he was looking for a spirit in the building. She already knew that it had made its way from one of the floors above into her home and past her warding's. They weren't a good person in life, and now it seemed to carry to the next.

It takes a minute for her to find her voice—she doesn’t normally talk during these, doesn’t pay attention to the real world, isn’t used to the mechanics of it—but he eventually receives a soft, “…Yes.” He sounds far away, almost like he’s under water, but Max can hear him. It’s hard to pay attention to what he’s saying, though, when so much else is going on before her glazed-over eyes.

She’s lost in a vision, the scene before her so very different from her living room. She blinks slowly, otherwise unmoving from where she stands. Water and broken glass surround bare feet, two glasses having slipped from her fingers when the vision caught her off guard on her way back to the sofa—she’ll probably have a few cuts, they might even already hurt, but she doesn’t notice the pain quite yet.

Because she’s not really here with him anymore. Doesn’t know where she is, or who (or what) she’s looking at, has absolutely no context as to what’s going on. Might not ever actually manage to figure it out, either.

Max is just along for the ride.

“I’ll be fine, they won’t hurt me!”

Don’t let him be like Kate. Please, please let him be like Chris. Better yet, let him be like Allison (excluding the time she went full Kate on the pack). Stiles isn't familiar with this particular pack, doesn't actually know any of them, per se, but he knows how to talk to them without getting his face ripped off. He has connections to the Hale pack. And best of all, he isn't a freaking hunter.

He’ll probably be fine.

The only one that's really in any danger, from Stiles’ perspective, is the guy with the gun. Winchester. (He idly wonders if the gun is actually a Winchester. Hasn’t gotten a close enough look at it to tell, but wouldn’t that be funny?)

He can see golden eyes glowing in the trees. That's a good sign. “I’m telling you, I’ll be fine. Just get out of here while they’re still giving you the chance.” There doesn’t need to be any bloodshed. No one needs to die today.

Stiles can handle this.
