I just read The Catcher in the Rye in one day.
I really didn’t know much about the book before I picked it up. I mean, I knew it was an American classic and world renowned, but no idea what the plot was about.
After reading the last page, I am wholeheartedly smitten with the story of Holden Cauffield and his two night adventure in New York.
I really felt him struggle with his apathetic nature, his identity, his purpose. Not only that, but the language was so vivid it painted a picture of a real New York. I felt like I was really there.
If you’ve never read the book, I recommend it. It’s a wonder and a surprise.
Like all good books should be.
It reminds me a bit of Perks of Being a Wallflower. Holden is lost like Charlie, looking for companionship and purpose. He dislikes most people, seeing them as phonies, and feels like he has no true person to confide in.
I’m such a big fan of both these stories. I can’t help but immerse myself in them.
