feel sick, my eyes feel weird because i looked at my phone too much and didnt take out my damn contacts, am kinda hungry but don’t feel like eating, feel sad and scared for no reason as i apparently always do at rest, my dad has to be operated on tomorrow with some risk of partial facial paralysis (and ofc anaesthetics could kill ya), i can’t really think, i have to do actual work tomorrow. feel so so tired.
BUT i did finish my first outline for this paper and all because past me spent time on it already so thanks past me, me. and i got an 8.5 for that one exam and honestly why do i stress myself out so much when the standards aren’t that awfully high.
wait now that i think about it, how did we go from ‘everything has its time and everything dies’ (heyy Moffat borrowed that from Davies for ten! nice)
to ‘i don’t like endings’ was that just ten’s quadruple companion/Master trauma (i.e. Donna taking the absolute cake)?
Did Eleven do a couple (?) of thousand years of recovery from that, overcoming all that denial (’i’m not gonna LOOK at the endings’) somewhere along the line? Making peace with River dying/disappearing from his life forever, and getting some peace from the Ponds getting an arguably nice long mundane life to live out together? And then Twelve of course (GOD THAT DELIVERY) ‘endings are always sad’ but having had a final long hurrah with River?
interestingly enough, the Doctor is like: i carry them with me. what they would have done, what they would have thought. (A GREAT DEVELOPMENT)
And Graham says: Grace would have wanted me to kill Tim Shaw, as a way to stop him. Is that true??? Or is he just saying that? because that would have been genuinely interesting.
i do believe that they’re setting up Ellie’s family as the killers
i watched ‘the girl who died’
very GOOD doctor-clara interactions here - and i can appreciate the HURT and struggle that 12′s going through - that’s some real shit. and the baby stuff - very good
absence of women + explicitly lampshaded: very bad
horns on viking helmets: COME ON, bad
i am liking 12 more and more. very brash
i am watching the woman who lived
FASCINATING idea. love its execution. i’ve heard no argument from the doctor
he did give a good one (how to value life)
but - the event that catalysed such a complete change (that smile during the talk - hm) did not seem explosive enough
anyway good immortality introspection
moving on to the raven episode
NOT as good writing - very choppy scene changing. clara has regained some annoying quality
wtf a cyberman loved?
god. wow that was actually. REALLY. SAD. GOD. i cried. they actually had a good dynamic as fuck
heaven sent
this was actually A GREAT episode that ive seen the latter half of and Steven MOffat actually did a way good job there
IT IS REALLY SCARY EVEN THOUGH I KNEW WHAT IS GOING ON OMG
moffat CAN do such good horror!!!!!!!!
the only dumb thing about this episode is that he just spent 20 billion years experiencing a loop to keep something secret - and when he escaped it he just straight up told them
hell bent
why is gallifreyan fashion straight from a western? thats fucking stupid
but if this implies that the doctor comes from a peasant family im fine with it
the confession dial being ritual purification before dying and being uploaded to the matrix is a FASCINATING bit of lore
moffat LOVES brining his angels back endlessly
it sucks that it comes down to this. this weird memory wipe thing thats directly recycled from RTD ? why. it has nothing to do with the original dilemma of destroying time. this threat to Clara from the Timelords is ephemeral and sudden
this whole doctor is fascinatingly paternalistic in this - ‘i have a duty of care’. i actually think it’s a good exploration.
it just - makes no sense - it makes no sense that the doctor loses clara like this and clara is just fine and dandy. it’s a stupid twist - it’s a misdirection to get out of resolving the dilemma of clara’s life vs. time fracturing
in a way that was nice - it makes sense after a while - but mostly emotionally. even ashildr gets what she wanted in the end - having had to see half the universe first of course. it does NOT make sense that she forgets her life but keeps all her skills long enough that she can dodge every single danger until the end of time and makes it to the gallifrey matrix in exactly the right spot BUT
it‘s nice - Moffat got Clara out of her death somehow by giving her a TARDIS. it’s.....nice. but it’s fucking a tidal wave in time and narrative that doesnt make any sense
i suppose it was a way to separate the Doctor from her and
Clara in a way became emancipated from the Doctor - he was no longer the portal to time and space.... i guess i’m old-fashioned that I like the fae nature of the Doctor too much to appreciate it
also the question of the Hybrid and the prophecy is never resolved
Izetta 6
Lol
Jonas just straight up runs from his superiors after eavesdropping on them and then instantly tells his buddy about knowing about an essential fucking secret? LOL
i KNOW that this is plot bullshit but my god, this boy is fucking dumb
Izetta’s Final Fantasy outfit with the flaps of cloth on her arms and one leg is still ridiculous but i can laugh about it now
at least they handle the MANDATORY FUCKING breast comparisons of anime with some humour and refinement on Finé’s part. godd fucking hell
wow. so uh, Bianca absolutely has a fervent and age-old crush on Finé haha
Finé goes from embarrassed about being caught sneaking into a pie shop, to making an impromptu speech to the People about making sure Eylstadt can afford to always eat pies again soon. SHE IS A NATURAL AT MORALE BOOSTING???? xD
Finé SO NATURALLY HUGS IZETTA IN SUPPORT IN PLAIN SIGHT OF EVERYBODY LIKE FDkJLJSDFJDWFJLDSFJ:DSFKd
she does not keep her distance at all like??!?!?!?
‘beloved tomboy image’ like....why do they keep calling that ‘tomboy’? is taht really the correct translation?
woah so Sieg’s man is actually COMPETENT immediately figuring out that there’s a spy?? damn!
but then Sieg goes and does not share essential information with Izetta and Finé. he doesn’t with the fucking ARCHDUCHESS??? what the hell is he doing? why??
the gunshots effects in teh show are terrible. but also, won’t Sieg’s man actually prevent Jonas from dying and the spy escaping with the info? NO! because plot
wow he’s a bit late. also, Jonas could just have lied. like. that is always an optiion when you’re tortured? in fact that is what most people do when they are tortured?? because it’s obvious?
Oh shit. SIEG DIDN’T EVEN ASK JONAS WHETHER HE HAD TOLD BEFORE HE SHOT HIM. LOL WHAT THE FUCK
Jonas was literally one leak. I know it was to showcase Sieg is hardcore ruthless. But like, that was wholly unnecessary? He could just as well simply turned him into a confidante and brought him into inner circles. it’s not like the discussion table is at all filled. oh! well!
that was pretty sad. would have been sadder if we saw another shot of his family or something
I really like the ending song.
