Anonymous bcs I'm shy, I just wanted to say that I haven't been so engaged in reading ever since I had finished Count de Monte Cristo- I think I scrolled through most of your blog. I amaze your knowledge. I really wish to become a historian (so I could study Lannes' life on a deeper level) and I never thought I would encounter somebody who had so much to say about him (while also not being a 15 year old tiktok user who spreads misinformation).

I truly appreciate your comments, and am very happy you liked my blog posts--I admit to almost looking back over my shoulder to see if you're really talking about someone else, older and wiser than I am. Just so you know, there are a few people who, for whatever reason, believe I have had way too much to say about Jean-Boy, including one former arrogant, now-departed male who said I knew nothing at all.

Anyway, becoming a historian, whether professionally, with degrees and credentials, or for personal pleasure and intellectual advancement, is a wonderful journey, and I absolutely recommend it. I was always going to be someone who studied history--and Jean-Boy--simply for the fun of it. But in 1985, when I was 40, the age Jean-Boy was when he died, he told me to get off my butt, go to graduate school, get the required degrees, and then write his biography in English and correct all the previous errors other writers had perpetrated.

So I did.
