Jeff Oster, as we’ve seen from his collaborations with and guest spots for guitarist Carl Weingarten, is a flugelhorn player who is masterful practitioner of New Age/ambient/chillout music. His jazz background endowed him with the improvisational skills to set him apart in this field, and Oster also appreciates a good groove.

Also appearing on this album is bass legend Chuck Rainey along with drum legend Bernard Purdie. That’s right, people, a New Age recording with the rhythm section from Steely Dan’s “Kid Charlemagne.” The video above gives us only some rough cuts from the upcoming LP, but beginning at the 2:47 mark is footage of Chuck and “Pretty” doing their funky thing with Jeff Oster’s horn audibly floating on top of it. This is a crazy idea that just might work.

We’ll check back on this again when the finished product becomes available.

How's THIS for a rhythm section: Nile Rodgers (guitar), Chuck Rainey​ (bass), Bernard "Pretty" Purdie​ (drums)...can it get any better than that?

I THINK NOT!

His guitar sounds so very sweet, and I am incredibly grateful that Nile has joined me and the rest of the amazing artists on this album.
