She hadn't spoken much in a while, beside a few forced sentences every now and then to appease a beyond worried Fitz, who had no idea she was still having trouble looking at his face, and a distressed Daisy who wanted to help her but felt the literal weight of the end of the world on her shoulders. The others had checked on her too, but only recently she had pushed herself to come out more; the fact that she was stuck in the same building where she had been enslaved not long ago, forced to be silent and to live in a world with no sound, didn't help her mood one bit.
That day, though, she had gotten tired of herself and had tried something different, making herself some cheer up food - pancakes, when you wanted people to feel better, or waffles, unless of course one had truffle fries ready at hand - with the intention of going up to the top of the Lighthouse.
When Deke had walked by her, about to snack with some of the food he had surely found stored there, she had felt the urge to invite him to join her: they hadn't interacted much, he was pretty much a stranger which made easier to just be herself, and it was part of her effort to go back to normal.
Instead, what she did was point the large knife she was using to cut sausages and potatoes so they'd fit better in her thermos right at him with a firm "No".
Not the best way to blurt out her thoughts.
"Sorry, no. I meant... that, you can't keep eating those, they are bad for your stomach. They are meant to be snacks, not breakfast." Better. Longest spontaneous sentence in a while. "I was... I have pancakes, potatoes and sausage. Do you... I was going to eat them outside. Upstairs. Get some air. Would you like any?"
