Sadie/Jenna Story~
"I just want everything to be easy again..."
Sadie pulled her hair back into a ponytail, grabbed her bag, and was out the door to go see Jenna. It had been a few weeks since she had last seen her at Above The Dot, and Sadie was anxious to catch up with her. After a bus ride and a few blocks worth of walking Sadie arrived at KC and Jenna’s place. She knocked on the door and within a few seconds Jenna ran to the door to greet her. ”Sadie!” Jenna exclaimed, “I’d hug you, but I’m kind of gross right now,” Sadie laughed, “I don’t care! I haven’t seen you in forever!” The girls hugged and Jenna quickly ushered her in. Sadie looked around the apartment. It small and cozy, but also very, very crowded. In the corner of the room was a crib with Tyson sleeping in it. Sadie walked over and peered into the crib, “Oh he’s so cute, Jenna!” Sadie cooed. Jenna smiled, “Thanks. Do you want anything? Like something to drink?” ”I’m fine, thanks. So how have you been?” They both walked over to the small table in the middle of the room. Jenna cleared the papers off of it and they both sat. “It’s been good, KC has a job, we’re all happy living together, it’s going better than I expected,” Jenna said. ”I’m really glad to hear that. I’ve seen KC at Little Miss Steaks. How is he with Tyson?” ”He’s really stepping up to the plate.” “That’s awesome!” Just then Tyson started crying from his crib, but before Jenna could even get up from her chair KC ran out of the bedroom in full work clothes saying, “I’ve got him! Don’t worry!” He grabbed Tyson and started to shake him gently over his shoulder. He looked over to see Sadie and Jenna, still sitting at the table and said, “Oh, hi, Sadie,” Sadie smiled, “Hey, KC!” After a few moments Tyson stopped crying and KC walked over and kissed Jenna on the cheek. ”I gotta go to work, I’ll be back later, okay?” Jenna nodded, “Have a good time,” ”I will, it was nice seeing you Sadie,” He said as he walked out the door. ”So what have I missed at Degrassi?” Jenna asked Sadie, “I feel so out of the loop!” Sadie thought about everything that had happened in the past few weeks, “Let’s see…Well Dave was a complete jerk over the radio at Degrassi,” Jenna raised an eyebrow, “What do you mean?” ”Him and Adam have a show together on there, and Dave couldn’t deal with Adam being transgendered, and called him a tranny on air…It was awful. And of course, I felt terrible about it since he’s my boyfriend, so I talked to Eli about it, then Dave got mad at me for talking to Eli and he got into a fight with Eli and it was just bad. All of it was really bad.” Sadie said in one long run on sentence. ”I’m so sorry Sadie!” ”It’s okay, Dave apologized, it’s all fixed now,” Sadie said with a smile, “So anything new here?”
Jenna’s mind raced as she thought of everything that she had been through since she was last at Degrassi. “Other than Tyson?” Jenna laughed. “Nothing particularly. I’ve really liked living here with KC, even if he’s not home very often.” She added that last part quickly. It’s not like she was bitter about KC’s new job… she just wished that he wasn’t gone as often. “Does he work a lot?” Sadie asked, looking over at Tyson’s crib. He was rolling around with his hands in the air, not crying but giving off a small whimpering noise. Jenna stood abruptly and snatched him, tickling his tummy gently as she cradled him in her arms. “Is he okay?” Sadie asked, suddenly alarmed. Jenna laughed. “Yeah, he just wants attention,” she explained. Absentmindedly rocking Tyson in her arms, Jenna looked back up at Sadie and said, “Yeah, he’s been going to work almost every day after school… he’s usually gone until about eleven but by that time I am so not in the mood to talk about him and his stupid coworkers.” Sadie could sense Jenna’s mood turning sour. “Stupid coworkers?” she asked.
Jenna sighed, “Do you know Marisol? She’s on Power Squad? Grade 11?” Sadie nodded, “Yeah, I’ve seen her around school,” ”She works at Little Miss Steaks with KC, and I’m just worried that’s she’s…Nevermind, it’s stupid,” Sadie looked at her confused, “What do you mean?” “I just know her type, I mean I was her type,” “Oh so you think she has like a crush on KC?” Jenna nodded. “Jenna, she knows that you two have a kid. Why would she want to go after a guy with a baby? I mean she must know better than to do that.” Jenna looked down at Tyson to see that he was pretty much asleep. She walked over to the crib and put him down, “I don’t know, I mean I would hope so…But I really don’t trust her, and she’s all KC ever talks about.” ”Jenna I’m sorry!” ”It’s okay, nothing I can’t handle, I mean I’m probably just being paranoid. I should be happy about this, I mean he’s making more money now that he’s a busboy, it’s great.” Sadie smiled, “Well that’s good.” Jenna nodded, “So what happened in that fight between Dave and Eli?” Sadie almost giggled, “It was the stupidest thing. I really don’t know what was up with him, but it was like he wanted to fight with everyone. I apologized to Adam about Dave, and then to Eli because they’re close friends, and I just hate people being angry at each other. Then Eli and I talked a little bit, and Dave just lost it. They just argued indirectly. It was so stupid.” ”I would have loved to see the two of them duke it out,” Jenna said, giggling a little. ”It was pretty ridiculous,” Sadie said with a smile. “Do you like being a mom, Jenna?” Sadie asked curiously.
“Of course I do,” Jenna replied with a smile, thinking of how lucky she was to have such an adorable baby. “I love Tyson.” Sadie smiled at the dreamy look on Jenna’s face. “He is really cute!” Sadie said to her. Jenna looked down at her lap and crossed her fingers together. “I just miss high school. I miss the Power Squad and I miss seeing you and Dave and Alli every day! It’s been weird having to hear everything through KC. He’s not exactly huge on gossip. He thinks I’m weird when I bug him to tell me what’s been going on." Sadie laughed. “Well, you’re planning on coming back to school, right?” Jenna was quiet for a moment and she looked over at the baby’s crib once more. “I really want to,” she said truthfully. “I just don’t know what’s gonna happen within the next year or so.”
Sadie put her hand on Jenna's shoulder, “Whatever happens, you know you have my support, right?” Jenna nodded, “I just want everything to be easy again. I love Tyson, and I wouldn’t ever want to get rid of him, but sometimes I just wish that I could go back to school and be normal.” “I know, Jenna. But I mean, you have Tyson, and KC, and everyone at school.” Jenna smiled, “You’re right, Sadie.” ”And we’re all here for you, no matter what! So what if you don’t go back next year? Everything will figure itself out. Oh! I almost forgot! I brought you brownies!” Sadie ran to her bag and dug out a Tupperwear container full of brownies. Jenna’s face lit up, “Ooh! I've missed these! Thank you!” Sadie smiled, “I figured you would like them,” ”I do!” Sadie looked at the clock on the wall, “I’m so sorry Jenna, but I have to go!” Jenna frowned, “It’s okay, have fun at school without me, okay?” “I’ll come see you again soon and you know it!” She said with a smile. They hugged and Sadie left, and Jenna went back to being alone with Tyson.
