Wylan felt his cheeks flush, but he didn't avert his gaze or try and make himself small. Instead, he settled next to Jesper on the couch and presented him with a book. "It's the sequel to my favorite story. I always wanted to know how it ended." But then his father stopped reading to him and he never found out. "...Could you read it to me?"
Jesper looked up, only just barely able to hold his tongue long enough to allow Wylan to explain. Ah. It was a story meant for children -- not toddlers, of course, but definitely those in their early school years. Whether Wylan had managed to struggle through on his own, or had had a parent read it to him didn't matter. That was all the context he needed.
"Sure thing," He gave a wink and accepted the book, settling back in the couch. "You should tell me what the first one was about, though! That way I'm not lost, either."
He put an arm around Wylan's shoulders an tugged him close. He didn't want to make a big deal of it, but Jesper was proud he had asked for help without looking ashamed or embarrased. Because there was no reason to be.
