Manny Pacquiao to Fight in November, Helps Basketball Team Win While Juggling Life as Senator
It is safe to say Manny Pacquiao is a busy man. His fight against Jesse Vargas is confirmed in November. While waiting, he busies himself by helping his basketball team win in Philippine Basketball Association (PBA).
Pacquiao is often criticize for having too much on his plate. His active lifestyle affected his attendance when he was still a Congressman in the Philippines. Now that he is a Senator, others are fearing the same would happen during roll calls.
After vowing to retire in boxing once elected as senator, Manny is now singing a different tune. And fans’ reaction is divided. Some claims, it is better to earn an honest living instead of stealing from the country’s coffers while others point out he would not be able to do his job as lawmaker.
But Pacquiao remains adamant. He even played and helped his basketball team, Mahindra Enforcers, win in the PBA. Pac-Man is assigned as playing coach and has been activated on the lineup due to injury of one of his players.
According to PBA | FOX SPORTS, Manny gave his players game bonuses as reward for their come-from-behind win. Mahindra is now undefeated in 4 games, its best start in franchise history. And it achieved the feat by beating perennial contenders San Miguel Beermen and Alaska Aces.
Per SPIN.PH, Manny Pacquiao admitted he did not go hard on defense but vowed next time to do better. He said he was happy the session in the senate adjourned early so he went and joined his team to give moral support.
Aside from his law-making duties, working as playing-coach and being a boxer, Manny is also a product endorser, an entrepreneur and a devoted pastor. With his looming fight against a very dangerous opponent in Jesse Vargas and his duties as senator and playing-coach, something has got to give.
Manny Pacquiao is a talented man. But so far, aside from boxing which he is also on a decline, he has not succeeded in one area he puts his focus into.

Basketball is not his forte, making laws is out of his league and boxing is slowly slipping away from his bag of limited tricks.

Timothy Bradley, finally.. I’m a believer!
Several days on, the dust has settled and yet the unfiltered desire that emanated from Bradley’s performance against Vargas, is still singed into my conscious.
I sit here reflecting, I can’t recall the last time a fighter so clearly spelled out to me, with punches dotting his opponents features, how much he needs to win. A sense of urgency that’s rare from a fighter at this level, Timothy Bradley is in the delayed later stages of some kind of metamorphosis and it’s fascinating to observe.
Bradley is somewhat of an enigma; former champion who operates at a respectably high and regular world title level, yet fights at times with the ferocity and fervour found in the corner of an inexperienced up and comer.
Outside of his masterful Marquez performance, it seems he’s willingly abandoned that same accuracy and mastery of technique. Almost in the manner of one who’s a little resentful of the patience and sometimes perceived negativity that pure Boxing can elicit from fans.
The Pacquiao fight seems to have overtly re calibrated the fight style of Bradley, and it’s his conscious effort to take a radically brave and different approach that is winning me over, maybe even as opposed to the actual style itself.
The unexpected backlash from his Pacquiao win has given birth to a fighter who literally appears to fight for that ever elusive respect. Tainted with the smudge of a questionable decision, even several years on, Bradley still fights like the first Pacquiao fight was little more then a few months ago. We may have forgot, Bradley it appears, has not.
Every fight since, has been a physical manifestation of the demons that still linger from the torrent of hate and death threats after “that” fight. Bradley himself even hinting at suicide in the past, the onslaught of negativity grew so immense at one point.
That Pacquiao fight has given birth to the fighter we see today. He who, instead of stepping back and clinically out Boxing a straight forward oncoming beast like Providnikov, actually elected to garnish and consume his crushing blows head on, despite not holding the same type of strength in his muscle fibres to return the punishment in kind.
The Pacquiao rematch, Bradley didn't even humour the notion of intelligently out boxing the Filipino legend. Nothin’ but straight hay makers launched deep from the valleys, a strange, what appeared to be almost emotional breakdown in the ring from Bradley, resulting in his first loss.
We see the initial unexpected eagerness from Timothy Bradley to nonchalantly trade shots with a known puncher Diego Chavez. The third round of that fight Bradley quite clearly felt he had to establish some kind of respect from not only his opponent, but the wider crowd and on looking TV audience. The Chavez tactics were dangerous, but compelling and utterly captivating to watch as a fight fan. Regardless, it cost him the win he deserved, having to walk away with the ugly, unfair draw etched onto his record.
The fact it’s so eloquently communicated to us later in that very same fight, that Bradley can out box fighters with at times ease, is all the more frustrating. He craves that concussive punch so much he actually fights beyond his means. The result of this, Is showing a much more inviting defence then a fighter of his level should be offering his enemies.
He is also diced with slashing, clean hits in the process of his passionate attacks in some of his fights and this contributes to a number of his questionable wins, losses or draws, depending where you place yourself on the fence.
It’s almost impossible to not flat out respect a man who fights with as much heart as Timothy Bradley. From an interested onlooker, I've now become an out right fan. It took several concussive punches; near KO’s and wars over the last few years for me to arrive here but I have been impressed with him in some manner, in every fight since “that” fight.
Bradley encompasses the essence of this sport in many ways; via his heart and desire primarily. I thought he lost the first Pacquiao fight. I feel he abandons his skills to go to war when he doesn't need to, but my admiration for this man grows with each bashing blow he receives, such is the twisted nature of us boxing fans.
The fact his Vargas fight ended so unusually and in such a dramatic fashion is a further quill stroke to his unusual tale.
I feel I probably have a new favourite fighter, despite being a little late to the party. Give him the fight Floyd, he might even go out there and win it.
