Pictures from the 1980s when the lizard head was installed on the original Fremont location of Archie McPhee in Seattle. It's still hidden away in our store today. Come in and try and find it!
ok so at first i just wanted to do a quick sketch of duane's travis bean which i consider the sexiest, foxiest guitar he's ever played. but then i thought i needed to add duane himself and do a study of some complex lighting while i'm at it.
so here he is!! man i love duaneeee🥰
Jim Kimball R.I.P.
I was saddened to hear of the passing of drummer Jim Kimball today.
I first became aware of his skills when he was the rhythmic powerhouse behind with The Laughing Hyenas in the '80s and'90s. I saw the Hyenas many times, and became friends with them all. Later I followed Kimball’s work in with the band Mule and his project with Duane Denison of Jesus Lizard, the Denison Kimball Trio.
I asked Kimball to join the Foetus live band for on a European tour in Feb / March 1996, which is memorialized on the live album "Boil".
Kimball went on to play briefly with Jesus Lizard, and later with Ghost Forest and various other projects. Rest in peace, Kimball.
The common basilisk is also known as the Jesus lizard for its ability to walk (or more accurately run) on water. ©
