should i switch to jetbrains ides
they are a) not electron, b) either open-source or based on an open-source codebase, and c) look really powerful
don't get me wrong i love neovim but the constant terminal-wrangling is starting to be a bit much + i want features like code completion and doc peeking that just work out of the box

Increased height for a better reading experience
I'm a bit late at the party writing about the Jetbrains font. It's a well thought-out font that has everything you'd expect in this day and age: lot's of language support, distinct characters all around, true italics for all weights, and ligatures.
The main theme here though, is touched on by that little quote at the top: whether you like this font or not seems to be completely determined by how much you like the x-height. It ensures readability and smooth rendering at small sizes. For some though, the lower case characters are now so close in size to the uppercase ones that it actually hurts readability. YMMV.

Go to settings > Keymap > Power Save
Map a combination like CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+P to turn Power Save on and off. Just turn it on for a second when you want the IDE to scan your code and “catch up” to you with inspections. For the rest of the time leave it off for improved battery!
