Jet xEclipse sharing a milkshake?

Eclipse felt his tail swish back and forth as he stood inside the ice cream parlor next to his boyfriend of three months. Jet the Hawk. The hawk was holding the darkling's hand as he scanned the menu in front of them.
The small alien could feel the eyes on him as they waited. As both Mobians and humans stared at him. And why shouldn't they? He WAS apart of the species that hunted others down to enslave them. It was only fair that they stared.
Didn't mean Eclipse felt any less insecure. Regardless, this was their first real date. Normally they would be watching a movie and just chilling in Jet's base. But Eclipse wanted a change of pace.
He wanted to try. For Jet.
So when the hawk was rummaging and organizing things in his office, Eclipse shyly asked if they could try this new ice cream shop. This had shocked Jet for a brief moment, as his darkling boyfriend did not like going out in public. None the less, he agreed with a smile and led the way.
Now Eclipse wished he had brought a hoodie or something. The stares were becoming uncomfortable, even with the hawk holding his hand.
"What do you like? I know you aren't a fan of sweets so maybe we could get you a-." Jet asked and froze as he noticed the tense posture of his boyfriend.
"Eclipse?" the hawk asked softly. The darkling didn't need to tell him what was wrong, it was clear by how he stared at the ground.
"Hey...sweetheart.." Jet said and placed a hand on his boyfriend's cheek, gently and slowly. He waited till his gaze was met. "We don't have to be here. We can order take out and just watch a movie."
Eclipse swallowed the lump in his throat. He felt horrible, he wanted to do something normal with Jet and here he was. Being scared of a few looks from strangers.
He cleared his throat. No. He was determined to make this their first and best date. "It's okay. I wanna try."
His gaze flicked up to the menu. A milkshake sounded good, right? "I would not mind a shake. We can share it. That's something couples do, right?"
Jet lets out a chuckle and pressed a kiss to his cheek. Earning a slight tail wag from Eclipse. The hawk was not big on PDA but Eclipse cherished the moments he indulged. Even if it was just hand holding.
Jet ordered their milkshake and they sat at a round table in the back with two straws. After Jet encouraged Eclipse to take the first sip, the darkling grinned. "It's good!"
Jet grinned. "At least we know that's something sweet you can handle." he spoke before scooping out some whipcream with a spoon and playfully smearing it across his boyfriend's cheek. Eclipse gasped and giggled and did the same to the hawk.
"You're so mean!"
"You started it!"
"Maybe so!"
Giggles errupted from the young couple. They spent a few minutes enjoying themselves before leaving a tip and heading out.
"How about we watch the Narnia movies? I know how much you love those and we can get some real food." Jet asked. Eclipse nodded.
"No take out. How about we cook something together?" the darkling smiled. Jet grinned and nodded. The darkling had learnt to cook and enjoyed it.
"Sounds like a plan to me."
"Jet?"
"Yeah?"
"I love you."
"Love you too. Always."
