Rules: Post the names of all the files in your WIP folder, regardless of how non-descriptive or ridiculous. Send me an ask with the title that most intrigues you and I'll post a little snippet of it or tell you something about it. And then tag as many people as you have WIPs.
Tagged by @jhoomwrites - thank you! :)
Most of these aren't actual WIPs (except for The Other Side), just some story ideas I thought of writing, but here they are:
1. Citadel
2. Destiny
3. Family
4. The Other Side
5. Zoo
I'll tag: @crackinglamb, @ejunkiet, @emmayame, @dispatchwithlove, and @barbex.
Also, thank you to everyone who tagged me in WIP memes. I haven't written anything since I posted the next chapter of The Other Side, so I haven't had anything new to show, but I appreciate you thinking of me. <3

“Sammy, this is ridiculous.” Dean twists around to glare at his brother who is still holding his phone aloft and giggling.
“Just keep walking, Dean,” Sam directs him. “Jesus, you’re cranky.”
“Yeah, well, you would be too if you had to go a month without your tongue in Jessica’s mouth,” Dean snarks.
He turns again to see Sam wrinkling his nose. “Gross, Dean. You can just say you miss him, you know.”
Immediately, Dean’s heart clenches, his stomach turns over, and his eyes prickle embarrassingly. They’re on a busy sidewalk, for God’s sake.
Sam’s right, of course. He misses Cas. It feels like a physical ache the longer he has to go without seeing him, without holding his hand. Dean misses the kissing, for sure, but damn does he miss just being near him, doing on dates together, and getting lost in those blue eyes.
Video chats don’t do them justice. Neither do they capture how adorable Cas looks when he blushes or the joy in his laughter. A tiny phone is not a substitute for the warmth of his hand cupping Dean’s, the brush of their fingers together, it’s not good enough. Nothing could ever compare to actually being with his boyfriend. It’s been four horrendously long months and Dean is so very sick of the distance.
It certainly isn’t helping that Cas hasn’t actually talked to him today. Dean didn’t have his typical ‘good morning’ text, which almost certainly ruined his mood. Since Cas is in Stuttgart and living on base with his parents, it’s the middle of his afternoon when Dean wakes up in the morning. They always stay up late to talk to one another, sometimes exchanging sleepy texts riddled with typos and laughing about them later on. But today, there was nothing. Not a single reply either so far, even though by now Cas’s family is having dinner. Dean’s trying, unsuccessfully, to keep from feeling upset about it.
Sam and Dean had made their way from their quiet street to the main road by the mall. It’s not too crowded at the moment, just an average Sunday morning. Some bustling in and out of stores or to the bus station. No one seems to notice Dean as he comes to a stop, apart from Sam. His brother looks put out at first but he lowers the camera and drops the frown when he sees Dean’s face.
“Aw, Dean.” He steps in for a hug, wrapping his lanky arms around Dean’s middle. “It’s gonna be fine, you’ll see. It’s like you said, you get to see him at the end of the semester. Just another twenty-nine days.”
“Too damn long,” Dean whines, resting his cheek on Sam’s hair. Kid’s getting too freaking tall for this but the comfort is nice. For all their teasing, Sam understands Dean better than anyone, and vice versa.
Which is why he’d only put up a token protest when Sam dragged him outside for this stupid video. Something about his technology class and how they’re making ‘a day in the life’ videos. What the hell is so impressive about a middle schooler’s day anyway?
“C’mon,” he says, pushing Sam a little. “Let’s get this over with. You promised me doughnuts for this.”
Sam rolls his eyes but he trains the camera on Dean once more. “Okay, go that way.” He points down the street. “Just a normal walk. Don’t be weird.”
“That’s your job,” Dean quips. He turns to walk at an easy pace, even though he knows he’s being filmed and it makes him feel antsy. “The hell do you need me on camera for anyway? Shouldn’t I be filming you instead?”
Whether or not Sam even bothered to respond, Dean has no idea. His attention is very quickly stolen by a familiar shape in an unexpected place. He can’t even spare the brain cells to say any words. All he can do is throw himself into the arms of the most beautiful person he’s ever known.
Cas doesn’t say anything either. He had smiled so brightly when Dean appeared around the corner. His gorgeous eyes are hidden behind some sunglasses and he catches Dean effortlessly, laughing a little and holding him tightly. Dean feels like his entire universe is righting itself, re-aligning itself perfectly in this moment. He has no idea how or when or why but Cas is standing on a sidewalk in Lawrence, and everything is right with the world.
“What are you—? How—?” Dean stutters, choking on the onslaught of emotion. Cas tries to pull back but Dean only clings tighter, pressing his nose and forehead into Cas’s shoulder. He hears Cas’s breathy laugh and feels his warm hands moving over his back.
“I couldn’t wait,” Cas tells him, “I knew you didn’t want to, either. Don’t be mad at Sam because it was all my idea. Mary’s, too.”
“You’re all a bunch of assholes,” Dean swears. This time, he lets Cas lean away, just a bit, in order to press a kiss to his lips. At the sensation, Dean’s eyes spill over and he has to pull Cas in again. He can tell Cas is looking at the camera over his shoulder probably grinning at Sam like the pair of scheming bitches they are…
And Dean loves them more than anything, He loves them so, so much. They’re going to his favorite doughnut place (Sam’s treat) after this, and then he’ll take Cas home where his mom will be waiting with dinner, probably. After they eat, they’ll cuddle up on the couch for a real marathon, not just coordinating the same film across time zones (not to mention international Netflix sucks).
He’s not sure yet what they’re doing tomorrow or when Cas is set to leave, all he knows is with Cas holding him tightly, they’re already home.
Look, you guys! I’m actually getting around to answering an ask thing! Thanks for the tag, @jhoomwrites! (if you ever tagged me in a game and I never did it, that was 100% because I suck. I was definitely flattered that you tagged me)
1. Are you named after anyone?
Yup, I got one name from each of my grandmothers.
2. When was the last time you cried?
I tear up a little every time I read a sad fic. It’s worse when I’m already tired/stressed (which has been literally always, these days).
3. Do you have kids?
Nope! But I do have a football-team’s-worth of nieces and nephews (biological and honorary).
4. Do you use sarcasm a lot?
It’s actually my first language.
5. What’s the first thing you notice about people?
Umm... beyond the basics? Probably whatever stands out about them. It could be their hair, their clothes, their height, their makeup, their cheekbones, their glasses... Most people have something unique or noteworthy about them, if you look.
6. What’s your eye color?
Blue. Like old, faded jeans.
7. Scary movie or happy ending?
Definitely happy endings. Even for scary movies.
8. Any special talents?
My mutant power is that I can find other people’s lost/misplaced stuff. Sadly, not my own.
9. Where were you born?
Louisville, KY (but we moved before I turned 1, so I don’t remember it at all)
Yep, two cats. They were the two smallest in a litter of foster kittens and they just... stayed.
12. What sports have you or do you play?
I adore sports, and have at least tried almost everything (well, everything that’s popular in the US, anyway). My knees are trashed now, so I’m the stereotypical retired athlete that watches sports on tv and plays golf. Things I played competitively: football (American, with helmets and pads), basketball, soccer.
13. How tall are you?
6′0″ (183cm, for non-Americans)
14. Favorite subject in school
I am a big ol’ nerd who enjoyed most subjects growing up; whether I enjoyed a specific class or not was mostly about how much I liked the teacher.
15. Dream job
I like my tech-nerd career. It’s cliche, but I mostly just wish I was independently wealthy so I could do it on a volunteer basis for organizations I support. (and I could take time off to travel or go back to school or whatever and not have to worry about paying the bills...)
[tags under the cut]
Tagging the last 15 mutuals in my activity that aren’t @jhoomwrites , but don’t feel pressured to do it. And if you wish I’d tagged you, please do it and tag me in your post -- I’d love to see your answers!
For @jhoomwrites who’s birthday was a week ago, and I just found out yesterday lol, this is an illustration that I started like a year ago just for fun but never finished. So I figured now is the time to do that.
This goes with one of her fics Parkour Kisses, that is on my list of one of the first Fanfics that I ever read! It was published a month or two after I started reading, and can be credited with two things.... pulling me into the AU side of fanfic, and probably pulling me over to Tumblr as well. This fic along with Strawberry Pistachio are the reason why I ventured here to seek out the author and scream my love at her, which led to me finding so many other wonderful people.
Go read this lovely little nugget! Happy Birthday Ashley!
As per usual, prismacolor marker with photoshop touch ups. I drew them so skinny cuz...high school AU, i dunno. Reference photo used is also linked in Jhoom’s author notes.
