Don’t like the cut of his jib
- put off by a person’s outward appearance.
Derivation: for an experienced sailor the cut of jib, a triangular sail on the foremast, was a characteristic indicator of the type of ship, and sometimes the nationality. French and Spanish ships often hat their jibs cut very much higher than British ships.
The way you write dad!Arthur is so sweet and I love it. You also give Isaac and Hope adorable personalities that are the cutest too!
Aww, that story about you and your great uncle is funny! Sounds like you and your family were close and had a good time 😄 do you get teased about this from time to time? I know my family would bring it up if something like that happened with me lol
🍦🍨 That sounds so fun, I'm glad you had a good time! What kind of stuff did you see there? I'm assuming cowboy and western stuff, but it sounds like there was a lot to see! Did you learn some history too?
Thank you, and I hope life treats you well. It can be tiring, just take it at your pace and it'll be alright :) and I know i'll like whatever you have for DtD 😊 every chapter had me hooked and i'll wait patiently for what you write 💖
That sounds fun! I hope your fishing goes well heh 🎣 and thank you, I hope you have a restful week too!
- Jibs
I'm so grateful you enjoy Arthur's fatherly moments. 🥰💞💘💓 Haha, I really do enjoy writing Isaac and Hope too. 😄
My great uncle was a v immature, crass man bahaha! He greatly enjoyed prushing my buttons and getting a rise out of me, when I was an otherwise v well-behaved little girl. But I adored my grandma with my whole heart. When I was a little kid, we'd talk for hours and hours about anything and everything and we'd hang on each other's every word, just happy to be together and listening and talking with each other. I haven't had that since. She could laugh so hard. We were really thick as thieves.
That story about me slapping the floor hasn't come up in a long time; but when my grandma was alive, my grandparents would bring it up every great once in a while bc they thought it was so hilarious that I couldn't understand when my great uncle would say 'no, that's my sister' and I loved her just too much to let her be someone else's! 'No, that my mema!' Hahaha! They really loved telling family memories in a dramatic way and laughing about them.
I learned so much, but I didn't see the whole museum--not even half, I don't think! I wanna go back! There was everything you could think of that had to do with the West and cowboys! Native American history, frontier settlers, cowboy history and artifacts, rodeo history, cowboys in the movies, galleries filled with art, an immersive Wild West town, and lots more!! It was beyond amazing and fun. 💕💓
Here are some photos of the river we fished this weekend and the fish we caught! Even at my age and having fished since two, the toughest part of fishing at least for me is still knowing when to set the hook bc a fish is actually biting rather than just playing with your bait or nibbling. It takes a lot of practice. It was so exciting to remember the different feelings again, especially when your pole bends bc you got an actual hit. I was so glad and grateful to catch a trout 💗💗💗 didn't know if I'd ever be able to again after moving, bc we didn't think they had any here. But I guess this is the one place in the whole state that has them. We got 4 trout the first day, and I got 1 the second day. Even though I hate most seafood, you best believe I'munna eat the one I caught! 😂 It was a blast and beautiful! Hope to go back again.
Hopefully I got a little inspiration to revv me up for writing.
I really hope you have a wonderful week, Jibs. 🌻
Hi Sara, it's Jibs! Sorry about the hard week, I hope it's been getting better. My week has been stressful, but reading about this fishing trip made my heart burst. The way Isaac and Hope were shushing each other made me laugh, that's such a sibling thing to do! Then Arthur's disappointment that his 'husband/baby pillows' were taken by Hope jsjsjhshewhjw and then their playful argument lmao I loved that part. And then Eliza saying she felt loved and Arthur saying she is 🥺 thank you for the fluffy cuteness i loved it so much 💕💕
Also, it's so cute you had been fishing with your father at that age. I've fished a couple times with my family, but we never caught anything in all the times we went fishing 😅 Although once we went fishing off of Florida's Atlantic coast and all we caught were sharks. At the time (I was also around 2-3, maybe a little older) I thought that was scary, but now I think it was cool lol.
And also, Happy Birthday! If I could I would bake a cake for you if you like cake! But since I can't, I wish you the best birthday and year 🎉🎉 you deserve it! Treat yourself some love and have a happy birthday!!
I'm so, so glad you loved it so much, Jibs! It was a real treat to write. 😄💗💕
I thought the shushing and then Hope’s squeal she didn't even think to hold back in the moment was such a cute way to show her personality and the way they all already know her--Isaac was trying to avoid it lol. ☺💞
I also adored the simple thought of Arthur breaking up his child's food into little pieces, blowing on them to cool them down, and then holding them up to her lips to calm her nerves about them still being hot. 🥺💗💓💞 I just had to write that.
The baby pillows! 😄😆 that's what my mama called them haha! And Arthur's & Hope's playful argument lolll it was inspired by an infamous interaction between myself and my great uncle when I was v v young little girl, abt my grandma. He loved to tease me and could really get me going when he'd say, 'no, that's my sister.' I kept getting so mad and insisting, 'no, that's my grandma!' I finally lost it and slapped the ground. 🤣😭 it's on a family vhs somewhere.
Yeeeesss Eliza saying she feels v loved and Arthur saying she is 🥺💗💓💖 had to include that.
You caught sharks?? That's kinda crazy!! And scary to me hahaha Sounds like it would be fun if it happened with family though! I'm having a laugh imagining my family pulling up sharks and freaking out. 🤣🤣
Thank you so so much!! Maybe you could scoop me some ice cream, I love ice cream! 😋 I received your message on my actual birth day! 😄 I had a wonderful and tiring birthday on Saturday--walked all around the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum for four hours and still only saw half of it! I wanna go back! 😄💓💕 Thanks so much for the well-wishes; I wish you a wonderful day and year too. 🌻
Life just keeps making me so tired. It's been hard and frustrating to try to continue writing (as usual), but I'm really trying! I've got some stuff I like for the next chapter of DtD, but it still feels like an uphill battle to get it completed and edited. It usually feels like that though. Hopefully you'll enjoy what I can scrounge together. 🥰 Then I'll get right to work on your prompt!
I'm going fishing this weekend, and if I catch anything, I'll get a picture of the fish for you! 😄🦈
Hope you have a good, more restful week! 🌻
