OMG as soon as I saw that John x Aeryn kiss I screamed WHY NOT SC?! Because you're so right, in another more fair world we'd gotten a scene like that with Lena and Kara. Their chemistry was just as strong and yet it got squandered because heaven forbid we'd have two wlw ships on one show and have the lead of the show be queer too. *deep sigh* Maybe some day.

right? maybe one day we’ll find ourselves invested in a show that pulls us in with quality writing and good acting and all of our very favorite tropes and we’ll be battle-worn and wary and assuming we’re being queerbaited all over again but we’ll roll with it anyway, as we always do, because damn if it isn’t just the push we need to want to create our own content for them, and while the show runs for numerous seasons developing this deeply complicated relationship with obvious romantic undertones that are never properly acknowledged on screen but played up enthusiastically by the actresses at press events the fandom keeps growing and we’ll have gifsets, shitposts, amazing fic and wonderful art, and then just as we think the writing can’t get any more overtly gay we get an actual for real no-holds-barred, completely-unanticipated-by-mainstream-media KISS and it isn’t even the last episode of the last season, and no one dies, and the relationships gets another good two+ seasons to develop further, with milestones and displays of affection all allowed to play out on screen, and none of their stories ever involves a coming out arc or homophobia and they get to ride off into the sunset together in the end

I know right?? It satisfies such a craving for me for AI/robot characters taken seriously, centered narratively, given interiority and their own unique voice and way of interacting among themselves and with humans. I love how they all have their limitations and a certain alienness/inhumanity and at the same time they’re so extremely real and relatable and fully realized people. Would love to see more of that
