Cherry Garcia: a role model/inspiration headcanon.
hmmm the one historical figure they look up to is probably mark twain. they really admire his writing and that humor doesn’t have to be slapstick in your face kinda stuff. they were the only person who really liked reading a connecticut yankee in king arthurs court in high school lol. they also really see their grandfather as a role model! their dad’s dad passed down all the magic and witchcraft stuff in the family to cole once they started getting involved with all the supernatural shit in town and teaches them spells and hexes

all the magic in their family comes from their dad’s side. their grandparents (sean and darlene froelich) still live in town and dote on cole as much as humanly possible. cole doesn’t know it, but darlene literally bakes happiness and luck into her cookies. their dad, frederick, is a bumbling businessman with only minimal magic skills (the gene doesn’t get passed down to everyone!). their biological mother, marie, is a former heroin addict who turned violent during her withdrawal. she and frederick divorced when cole was in eighth grade and she broke a glass beer bottle over their head (they still have a scar running down their face because of it). she agreed to spend some time in a rehabilitation clinic, was released six months later, and hasn’t been heard from since. frederick got remarried to the classic pta mom archetype, andrea johns, when cole was a freshman. cole’s half sister, alyssa froelich-johns, was born towards the end of their junior year. cole misses their mom and is struggling to live with peppy, smiley, andrea and her ridiculous baby, and spends most of their time in their room or at jason or delia’s house instead.
