This wasn't the first time that they were meeting so that Mingyu could help her. As a matter of fact, many occasions such as this one have occurred before, but that didn't stop him from getting excited each time. Honestly, he loved that Jihyo had developed an interest in rap, and he loved even more that he was the one that she started coming to for help. Did this mean that she thought he was pretty good at it? Good enough to teach someone else? He has spent years practicing and refining his skill, but this still felt unexpected.
He was sitting at the table, too busy not doing the homework he was supposed to be working on to hear the door. Hyunwoo gave him a look and Mingyu shrugged as the man made his way to the door to let Jihyo inside. He smiled down at her and gestured for her to come in. "Sorry if you were out there long. Mingyu was playing with pencils instead of doing his math work." He softly chuckled and Mingyu's cheeks turned a light shade of pink as he let his head fall to the table.
《 ★ @jihyork 》 after a month of listening to the song, he expected to be tired of it but he was still humming along, the melody floating around in his head as he took another sip from the water bottle he’d been nursing for a minute or so. it was the only break he could afford at the moment, trying not to rest too much and be found on his laurels when they’re meant to be hustling about. another water bottle appears in his hand, an endless supply thanks to sphere, and he’s feeling high in spirits now after taking that small break. it didn’t seem like much but it felt rejuvenating. however long it lasts, he wants to take advantage of it, dancing over to someone and singing the lyrics. his confidence in his singing isn’t as great as the others but he’s been making progress day by day, when he’s genuinely trying. “please don’t be sad / baby, you’re much prettier when you smile / don’t put on that sad face / when I see you, my heart aches so much.” instead of going into the next part, after placing his hands on his chest, he pretends the water bottle is part of his heart, jumping from his chest as he holds it out to the female in front of him. “being healthy can help keep you happy! please stay hydrated on a hot day like this and smile~”
Minkyung, now that she had a bit of freedom in her life, found that she quite enjoyed the occasional party when she found herself at one. It was a nice way to relax from her hectic school life and just let loose a little bit. She was nineteen now, so she felt she could enjoy a few drinks too, though she knew her limits, even if she still didn’t have a big tolerance to the stuff.
On a Friday night, she found herself at a party she had been invited to by a classmate, just an acquaintance really, but they had worked hard studying all week, so she accepted. Going by herself, however, resulted in her finding some moments where she was not socializing as much, just kind of off to the side sipping on her drink. She didn’t really mind it though, she was having a lot of fun regardless.
She was, anyway, until he spotted her. The male was a bit too drunk for her liking, having made it to the party earlier and enjoying it to it’s fullest before she had even thought about having a drink. He stumbled over and placed a hand next to her head, smirking a bit. “What’s your name, hmm? I bet it’s ‘My newest girlfriend’, isn’t it?”
Minkyoung recoiled a little from the amount of alcohol on the guy’s breath and just how close he was to her, she looked away, looking quite uncomfortable with the whole situation.
whenever his friends set him up for something, whether it was a date or an acting opportunity, it always turned out badly. still, jinyoung didn't want to let them down so he usually agreed to follow their plans and later suffered the consequences only to repeat the same cycle over and over again. it wasn't the girls' fault. there was just someone else on his mind and no girl he recently met seemed to meet his expectations. the only problem was that they were not her. he had no idea if there was still even a chance that they could ever be an item, but he wasn't ready to give up just yet. unconsciously or not, he had no intention to date anyone else for the time being.
all he knew was that they shared the same last name, that her name was jihyo and that she recently turned nineteen years old. besides these very basic facts, jinyoung had no idea what were her hobbies, what she looked like or which university she chose to attend. she was probably a very nice girl and hopefully if things didn't work out - which he was positive they wouldn't - they could remain friends.
he chose a comfortable outfit thinking it looked proper but not overdressed for the occasion. sweaters were among his favorite things to wear in the winter as they were warm and soft. a quick glance at his watch reassured jinyoung; he was not late. he entered the restaurant looking for a girl that fit the description given by his friend. his eyes landed on a young woman sitting alone at a table for two. he approached her calmly, putting his nicest smile on. "excuse me, miss? are you park jihyo?"
considering the fact that they both just recently graduated from sopa, jihoon still found the time to actually go and eat outside and keep up with jihyo. so that was his main reason to like, finish his own workshop, get paid and end up in macdonalds after her shift so they could sit down and have a chat.
he also, brought along his secret weapon /apart from his hair/ - candies. homemade candies his mum pushed in his hands telling him “give them to jihyo, say hello from me.” so there he was, sat down with a tray filled with calories, his former classmate across from him and he reached out to slide the bag of sweets to her.
“mum said to give them to you, she also said hi, and ugh.. i hope you like them i guess?” alex added, a small shrug and a smile “you should actually visit sometime you know? i feel like my mum misses seeing you more than she misses seeing me...” he gave jihyo a blank stare, before leaning over the table just a bit “how do you do that? what sorcery do you use on my mum?”
Ugh, he was tired. Were school days always this daunting? Rhetorical question, obviously, because of course they were. Don’t get him wrong, he loves a few things about going to school, but at the end of the day, he always felt so bored. He simply wanted to go home and sketch a few things, or maybe even continue working on some verses he’s been writing. However, he was a growing boy (oddly enough... he was already 50 feet tall, how much more was he going to grow?) that constantly stays active, therefore needs to be fed about 24/7. He still had some money leftover from the day, and while he knew that it wasn’t the healthiest choice in the world, he wanted to stop by and visit a good friend.
Pushing open the door that led to McDonald’s, Mingyu strode over to the counter with his head down, the rim of his hat covering his face. As soon as he approached, he looked up (or... down?) to Jihyo as he leaned forward, against the counter, and his large, boyish smile greeted her. “I’m hungry, you’ll pay for my dinner, right?” It was a joke, of course, but he still wanted to see what she’d say. He liked teasing her sometimes, it was fun. “If so, I think I’ll have one of everything on the menu.” He paused, his grin widening. “Make that two of everything, please. I can’t pay you back, but you’ll be doing me a solid. I deserve it.”
KIM MINGYU & PARK JIHYO ;
spring is gone by chance // loco & yuju
april 8th, 2017 • spring performance
Just the day before, he’d shared this stage with his best friend. Now, he was getting to share it with his second best friend, and he couldn’t be any more overjoyed. Mingyu always claimed that time spent in Jihyo’s presence was a breath of fresh air, and that definitely wasn’t any different in this particular case. Since he already had the chance to get into the groove of performing, he felt really honored that he was given the chance to help Jihyo do the same. Even though he’s been on this stage once before, it was her first time. He liked that he felt so much more comfortable at this point since that would likely leave him with less room to cause an error. Honestly, he’d absolutely hate it if he ruined her big break and chance in the spotlight by slipping up. That wasn’t an option. Kim Mingyu was determined to make the older girl proud so nothing would stop him from doing so.
If there was a single person on the Earth that could appreciate great vocals, Mingyu liked to believe that he would be that guy. He could sit for hours listening to his favorite singers. Some of the prettiest voices he’s ever heard belong to none other than individuals that he’s had the pleasure of meeting. Jihyo, of course, was one of them (alongside his mother, Won, and Nam Dawon). Even if he didn’t know anything else at all, he knew that he couldn’t disappoint her. She was relying on him, and there was no way in hell that he would break her trust in him, even if it was accidental. Accidents, mistakes, and slip-ups weren’t allowed. They were banned (at least from him they were. If it was her? No big deal).
It was almost as if he didn’t have a choice; a huge smile plastered itself upon his face as soon as he was on stage with the girl. He had almost forgotten that he had way more lines in this song than he did with the one he performed with Won, and it did put him slightly on edge. Regardless, he did a good job of hiding it. Again, he was very thankful that disguising his emotions had become such a great talent of his. He appeared so very confident and fearless but also had to do his best to hide the way that his hands lightly shook as he held the microphone in his hand. Jihyo opened the song, which she deserved, and she did so beautifully. He was very grateful for this opportunity that he was given to do a song with such a wonderful singer. Surely everyone would admire their stage. At least, he definitely believed and hoped that they would.
It was almost like déjà vu— he stood on the same stage while rapping lyrics that he related to. In a way, it was nice, because any moment spent thinking about Won helped him feel at ease. Even so, which each word, phrase, and sentence that he connected with, the more longing that he felt. On the bright side, it also made his performance that much more believable. He was confident that the people witnessing the two of them would be able to tell that he was passionate, and not only did he love what he was doing, he also loved the feelings and thoughts that came along with it.
He felt happy considering he thought as though he started out well and continued to do well. His pronunciation was nice and he was doing a good job of keeping rhythm. Opposed to the lyrics of the song, Mingyu hadn’t stuttered or stumbled over any of his words even once. Maybe he was even doing better than the day before, but at the same time, maybe he was only imagining that since his rap was much longer this time. He felt as though he was given a little more to display his talents and full potential, but at the same time, not a lot could beat time spent with his favorite individual in the whole world. Even so, this was a close second. Jihyo was such an amazing girl to be standing next to, and he couldn’t be any more thrilled with how things seemed to be going so far.
As he rapped, his friend could be heard beautifully singing along with some of the lyrics. No matter how much pride he was developing for himself, it could never match that of which he felt towards the girl. He really felt like she outshined him and he didn’t mind in the slightest. Once he came to the end of his verse, his smile increased as he looked at her, watching as she continued on with the song and her lovely voice.
After listening to her sing for a while, it was drawing nearer to his next turn. He took a moment to prepare himself as he drew in a breath, ensuring that his face still reflected the confidence that he actually felt along with even more that he was faking. Both of them recited their shared line, then it was on to him again. This time was no different than the last. He even impressed himself, and he felt a little surprised that he seemed to be doing so well. It wasn’t that he didn’t always practice and normally do such a good job, but he could always be a little tough on himself. In situations such as this one, however, he couldn’t really afford to be if he didn’t want to mess up.
He only has half of his verse left, then his part of the song will be over and he can enjoy as Jihyo finishes. He tries his best during these last moments, ensuring that everything goes off without a hitch. His mind is wandering back to his best friend again, and though part of him wants to shake it, he doesn’t allow himself to. Picturing the slightly younger boy within his mind causes his bright smile to turn into a softer once just as the last word leaves his lips, then he’s left happily moving around, enjoying the sounds of Jihyo’s vocals until the song draws to a close. Once it’s done so, he flashes a grin in the girl’s direction that basically says ‘you did great, I knew that you would...’ He was sure that he did, too.
Being out of school was sometimes a lot more boring than he originally thought it’d be. Sure, he was mainly enjoying all of his newfound freedom, but he also seemed to have way too much time on his hands. One of his favorite hobbies was practically taken from him, so that was something less that he constantly had to look forward to. He still had his art, and now he had a lot more time to spend with Won, especially since he lived with him, but the younger boy had a job now, and Mingyu did not. In order to keep himself from feeling like he was failing his family, he tried to keep busy whenever it was possible.
Today, however, he was tired of chores. He just missed basketball, if he was totally honest. He found himself texting one of his best friends about it, then it wasn’t much longer before she had practically invited herself to play with him. That’s how the two of them found themselves dressed in short sleeves and shorts, standing on the empty outdoor court. There was a fence that secluded them from the rest of the world, so now the teen stood here looking to set terms. “So, we aren’t just playing for fun, right? I feel like there’s always something extra in this kind of thing when it comes to you. So... what’s the deal? What does the winner win? Or... the loser... lose?”
