OLD DOGS CAN'T LEARN NEW TRICKS! OLD DOGS CAN'T LEARN NEW TRICKS!
I may be crazy but an idea occurred to me as we finished watching 3x10. When chuck is manipulating jimmy into confessing? After Jimmy's done speaking, Chuck:
1: briefly looks down to where the recorder is (!!) prompting jimmy to look down too(!!) Hang on I'll put the scene
2: he says THIS
So I'm thinking that maybe chuck... Not sure if "regretted" is the right word, but maybe he was torn between wanting to fuck Jimmy over and wanting jimmy to realize he was setting him up?? Why would he look down at the recorder, knowing how quickly jimmy catches on to these things!! why would he outright state he's confessing to a crime!! It's like he's saying "c'mon. Don't let emotions override you. Realize what I'm doing"
I do think chuck loved jimmy in a way, but he absolutely didn't like him which is why he did all of this to begin with. And also Chuck's a hypocrite, because he's as conniving as jimmy. He doesn't have a problem using tricks when necessary to get his way. They're similar in that way, so maybe they're also similar in the sense that he also felt bad after fucking him over?
OR Maybe it was like. Though I don't think he actively thought of it this way but, maybe he felt like "getting down" to Jimmy's level was the fair thing to do? Give him some clues, see if he noticed. But he didn't, so chuck felt allowed to carry on with his plan ruthlessly
Getting to the trial scene, fully expecting Saul to pull a convoluted scheme and getting as few time as possible + making Kim look good, and then watching him just. Fully confess to everything. From getting involved with Walt just for the money, Howard's whole thing, up to everything about chuck (!!) I was not. Expecting that.
I now realize I fell for what was probably the writers' intention with these last few episodes: making Saul as unlikeable as possible so we won't expect him suddenly pouring his heart out. I mean! This was probably the most honest he's been out in the open in the whole series!
Kinda wanting jimmysaul to be given the 160 years in prison BUT shaking my head the entire time to show that I don't agree with the usamerican prison industrial complex
