God of Charity, Selfless Giving and Forgiveness, Jiniya
Jiniya is often depicted characteristically as a human shaped woman decorated in finery, gold and jewels, tall and resplendent wearing a silver crown and long flowing hair. Her statues are often depicted with her having her palms up turned and outstretched, to accept offerings. These offerings are traditionally given to the poor and destitute; but because often how the church is moderated and set up-large portions of it are embezzled with the barest trickle down going to the people who it is meant for.
Jiniya is actually a small dragonoid creature and dresses rather plainly. As the embodiment of chairty, she gives away the luxuries she has to others that have greater need for it. It was said at the beginning of her creation, she was resplendent and gold covered, but seeing the plight of mortalkind as capitalism took over and many suffered at the hands of poverty, she would strip the gold adornments from her body and tear up the lovely silks and give it to the people of the world below. She even went as far as to pull off her beautiful golden scales-layered beneath were silver and then the ones of copper until her bare flesh was exposed, pink and gradually hardened exposed to the open air. Clerics who have seen Jiniya in person sometimes subtly call her 'The Peeled God'. Her scales often do grow back in patches, but she frequently tears them off to give away to those who need it more. She holds distain for how many of her churches misbehave and embezzle money, but not to seem hypocritical, she sadly forgives them for their transgressions. Very few of her followers within this church are genuine in their actions of charity and they are the ones who truely have her blessings. There is a small Nunnery noted for their devotion to Jiniya and are known as the Sisters of Charity, and are the true actual followers of Jiniya's path of traveling as close to as broke as they can, offering charity where they can and accepting the selfless kindness of others.
Jiniya is very much the ‘doormat’ of the gods. She is a people pleaser, she has hard saying no to people and forgives far too easily for transgressions against her. Next to Delor, she is the most easy to trample emotionally deity-except with Delor they will eventually fight back and lose their temper, Jiniya is so even tempered, that you could scream at her face and she would apologize for you.
It is strongly believed in mythology that it was Acacious who stole her skin (in the main stream version of the story, it was her cloaks). Depending on which version of the story you hear-some say Acacious stole her skins and lost them in the mortal realm gambling. Others say that Acacious did it as his one act of giving to Jiniya who was not emotionally strong enough to do it herself and used his claws to rip the skins off her and turn the scales into coins.
It is said she committed the selfless act of giving the once flightless dragons the gift of the own wings torn from her back. Albiet, most Dragons claim they do not have a god that created them-it is quietly muttered under their breath that it was Jiniya who bequeathed them the gift of flight by the more religious minded ones. She is also the creator of the Kobolds, designing a version of the Dragons in hopes of making a more mindful race to follow her. However, they ended up a bit ditzy and often end up following and worshipping Dragons instead. She does love them regardless of how misguided both the Dragons and the Kobolds are.
