Georgia is located between Turkey, Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan. Eighty percent of the land is covered by mountains. The Greater Caucasus Mountains to the north and the Lesser Caucasus Mountains to the south. Between these massive mountain ranges you’ll find fertile lowlands that form strategically important east-west and north-south routes between Europe and Asia and it’s not difficult to understand why it was an important passage on the Silk Road.
