A conversation about which flag one uses to represent a language in Lorech led to me creating this, a sign at border control at Ioðinbêr Airport, translated into eight Lorechian language. It says "welcome to Elitho. Prepare your passport for inspection." The Elithoan unity flag (the blue and yellow cross) is often used to represent the Celinese outside of Elitho, but not inside it because of its appropriation by movements that want to see Esfoth (Western Jinyero) reünited with Elitho.
Info about each language and the flag used to represent it:
1) Language: Celinese (endonym: celínec)
An official or regionally recognised language in: Elitho, Circassio, Gwyðach, Esfoth/Western Jinyero, parts of Ochrís and Telairo, parts of Norèscie, the Anelithoan Isles, Sairstír, Lombeir/Elombe, Tygenoc Ifanc, Lyrion, Ilbiyon, and Ifanco.
Flag used: Elithoan national flag
Usage: Typically used to represent Tygenoci variants of Celinese, though in Sairstír and Western Jinyero, the Elithoan Unity flag is preferred. In Circassio, sometimes a modified pan-Elithoan flag is used with the Elithoan blue replaced by Circassír violet. Sometimes the flag of Circassio is used to represent the sometimes very divergent varieties of Circassír Celinese, but this is frowned upon by non-Celinophones who believe the flag should not represent one of hundreds of local languages.
2) Language: Norèsc (endonym: norelnæ; Northern Elithoan exonym: norelynig)
Official or regionally recognised language in: Norèscie, Wyšo and some Northern Elithoan states (in Iferðí, at least half of individuals speak Norèsc as a first or second language.)
Flag used: Norèsc national flag.
Usage: No controversies, given that Norèscie is the only country that recognises Norèsc as a national language.
3) Language: Jinyera (Celinese exonym: seyínaireg)
OoRRL in: Jinyero, Jyoliye islands (near Ochrís), Lombeir/Elombe, Jyoroweya, Sayote (Circassio), and Ilbiyon.
Flag used: National flag of Jinyero
Usage: Jinyero is a bilingual and bicultural nation where Celinese and Jinyera are the two national languages, so some Western Jinyers and Celinophone Eastern Jinyers find the usage of the national flag inappropriate. In Western Jinyero, Jinyera is represented by the Jindeyan Cross (a yellow saltire on a red background) instead.
4) Language: Wyshovian (Celinese exonym: wyseoig, endonym: келы вөшил - kely wöşil)
Flag used: Wyshovian National flag
5) Language: Ochrien (endonym: okoṛų)
OoRRL in: Ochrís, Telairo, and as a secondary language in every nation of the Aivānien Union.
Flag used: Flag of Ochrís
Usage: Sometimes, particularly in territories of East Aivānien such as Mylveti, Ochrien is represented by this flag, minus the seven stars that make up the "arc of eternity" - these are seen by Mylvets and Miyatolor as symbolic of Ochrien territorial expansion.
6) Language: Foghuri (Celinese exonym: foghurig)
OoRRL in: Foghur, Zenidiria and as a lingua franca in much of the surrounding territory.
Flag used: Flag of Foghur
Usage: Royalists who oppose the toppling of the absolutist monarchy do not use this revolutionary flag, and instead use the old royal standard.
7) Language: Ilbuir (Celinese exonym: hylbwyreg)
OoRRL in: Ilbuir, Älborin and as a lingua franca in much of the sparsely populated Lorechian Extreme South.
Flag used: Flag of Ilbuir
Usage: Älborinen prefer to use their own national flag, or the Ilbuirophone People's Unity flag instead.
8) Language: Tyrinori (Celinese exonym: tyrinoreg; endonym: ᏖᎹᎪᏔ tĕmgot - lit. heavenly language)
OoRRL in: Tyrinor and surrounding island nations. A trade language in much of NW Lorech
Flag used: Flag of Tyrinor
Usage: Initially controversial having replaced the ducal flag, but now used without controversies having been given the Grand-Duke's unequivocal support as a symbol of the nation.
