SPEAKEASIES WEREN’T A TYPICAL PLACE to find Danny on a weekday night. Or any night, for that matter. But her curiosity, as it often did, got the best of her. At the play, JJ mentioned owning a club and extended an offer to visit. Between Agatha and an uptick in business at the funeral home, she was just now getting around to taking him up on it.
The brunette wasn’t sure what she expected to find behind the nondescript door aside from a bar and perhaps a few strobe lights. She wasn’t disappointed, weaving through the bodies out on the dance floor to reach the bar and order her usual. ❛ Rum and coke, thanks. ❜
And with a snap, September was coming to a close and Vermont’s brilliant October foliage was already beginning to emerge just a few weeks into the new season, previously lush green leaves presently rusting into shades of vermillion and gold, mahogany and cardinal. It was dusk, golden hour, and a soft breeze with a slightly biting chill was mussing students’ perfectly styled hair, the leaves dancing with it in a way that suggested the trees had waited years to perform their own sort of ballet, long twigs and branches swaying slightly with the wind as the sun served as a spotlight, peeking through the leaflets, highlighting their limited-edition shades. Leo was heading back to Calloway, vintage Chanel sunglasses perched on the bridge of her nose as she headed back through the commons, riding boots tapping the pavement she walked on with crisp clicks. She had just been returning from The Thinking Cup, her usual Earl Grey balanced on a stack of books held in her arms as she looked at her phone that had just taken to violently vibrating. Huffing as she was unable to tap the pesky green button, she searched frantically for a familiar face, eyes lighting up once they caught JJ. “Hey, King George!” she called, giving her friend a wide grin as she wrinkled her nose, “Mind helping me out here?” @joshua-buckley

rain pours, flows through ditches and down drains, ricochets off a smooth black umbrella as jj wields it over his head, walking the short distance from his car into his house, before he catches a glimpse of a man -- rifling through his trash can. if the davenports were a family built on empathy and charity, perhaps the sight would pull at his heart strings, but it doesn’t -- not until he lifts his head and he can see how YOUNG he is. wide, somehow familiar brown eyes meet his and realization rockets into the pit of his stomach. he knows this man. he approaches him and lifts his umbrella high enough to cover them both, accommodating for the other’s height. his name falls from his lips, but it seems to be foreign to the other. the blonde’s heart pounds, his eyebrows furrow, he swallows. “come on, it’s raining cats and dogs -- come inside with me.”
@jollipopxjones continued from here.
Let me guess, they’re “making an example” out of you. Forcing you to serve as a warning because you can’t lead by example, right? The jagoffs on the parole board really need to come up with some new material. Either way, it’s great to see you again, Jollipop — or should I say roomie?
“Please tell me you have something sweet and edible at your place. I might have gotten myself locked out again and need a place to crash tonight.”
i’ve been up to no good
