“… Sweetie, you have to show even more strength in your fight.” You heard a voice on your left. Without looking away from the target, you kept focusing your hamon on it, and finally, with another attempt, you successfully crushed a piece of wood and threw it to the ground. You looked at your mentor with a smile, who nodded in approval.

At the moment, you were Elizabeth’s only and probably last student. The woman wanted to finally take a break from the constant fighting, studying and training of the next generations of young and talented warriors. She dreamed of holidays in warm countries, drinks and Latin music. Nevertheless, working with you was one of the most enjoyable in recent years; you were incredibly creative, a quick learner, and you liked challenges. In a way, you reminded Lisa when she was twenty and had just learned hamon techniques and fighting and self-defense.

“… Shall we rest, cutie?” She spoke again, and you agreed to her proposal. In addition to being a great trainer, Lisa was an incredibly good cook, which is why she always made a delicious, filling dinner for the two of you. You happily sat down next to her on a piece of tree stump and thanked her for the warm, fragrant meal.

With a warm heart, you enjoyed the presence of the older woman, her delicious fried cauliflower and baked potatoes, as well as a solid portion of protein, which you needed to gain more strength for training. During the meal, you talked a lot; Lisa often told you about her childhood, her son, many failed relationships, as well as her closest family. With her, you felt like with your closest friend or partner, who confessed her secrets and dreams to you. Lisa was a really good and warm woman. She was certainly a good wife and mother, although you also knew that she devoted her entire life to training, not family.

Somewhere deep in your heart you wanted her in place of your mother, who for years had not been interested in your life and whether you were still in this world. Lisa was her opposite.

And this separation will certainly be more painful in the future than a broken shin or a knocked out tooth. That’s why you couldn’t let Elizabeth down and you knew you had to give it your all and even more.
