HOW TO IDENTIFY A GENUINE REAL ESTATE COMPANY/REALTOR This's what some people find difficult but when you follow the right step it's easier than anything. The proliferation of real estate industry in Nigeria at present is quite alarming. The booming has quite attracted a lot of quack into the noble and lucrative industry. Whether you're a savvy investor or not, investing in real estate is quite commendable. However, you should be on guide to find out the key information about the company if its genuine to avoid the risk of a fake realtor. 1. Corporate Affairs Registration No/Certificate of Incorporation Before any transaction, find out if the company is duly registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission(CAC). Insist they provide their registration number. Even after presenting the CAC registration number you can still on your go to the office and verify maybe with the help of counsel 2. Ask for License Every real estate organization and realtor should and must have a valid license to operate in Nigeria and be recognized at least by one of the Nigerian estate boards - like Real Estate Developers Association of Nigeria (REDAN), Estate Surveyors and Valuers Registration Board of Nigeria (ESVARBON), and the rest of them 3. Must have a Standard Office and Accessible Address Ensure the address is valid and the agent you're dealing with take you to the company office physically before any deal/negotiation.
