I had a dream where I asked you for a messed up toxic yuri reccomendation so I thought I might as well ask in real life too
i'm so honoured you had that dream awww <3 I'm so known for this that it appears in your dreams, i wonder how I should feel about that fdhjkfddf... thank you for asking hehe I'm always happy to talk about yuri recs!!
I've recommended these all in the past, but Yuri is My Job!, The Filthy You is the Cutest, and Destroy it All and Love Me in Hell are all really good toxic yuri manga. The first one is the tamest and is focused around girls working in a yuri-themed cafe who can't keep their professional and personal lives from bleeding into each other. The second deals with heavy bullying and dubcon bdsm dynamics, and the third one starts out toxic and violent, but the girls gradually become closer and understand each other better while dealing with their own abusive family relationships. They all have rollercoaster ride stories and pacing and I find them all so addictive to read, I couldn't put them down.
This one has an anime that I haven't watched yet, and I haven't finished reading it, AND it has very bad reputation, but I do like NTR: Netsuzou Trap... it's about two girls who have boyfriends, but keep cheating on them with each other. I love the denial of the one girl who keeps thinking "oh but my boyfriend is such a nice guy so i can't break up with him :(" but then she keeps cheating on him anyway and acting like it doesn't count or that the other girl is completely manipulating her into it. The denial is insane and almost hilarious (reminds me a bit of HH...). Girl you're gay and you don't need to stay with him just because he's a nice guy... stop cheating on him and hurting him more if you actually care about him fdhkjdffd
People always act like this manga is the worst thing ever even though it's so tame compared to a lot of toxic yuri, so I kind of enjoy it out of spite dfhjkfd it's not great literature or anything but it's fun and dramatic.
One of my actual favourite favourite yuri anime is Kannazuki no Miko, where it is sort of tasteless like Netsuzou Trap, but I also can't help but love the girls so much. It used to be really common to draw your f/f otp in the "kannazuki no miko pose." This anime used to be really important for yuri, although it's now been mostly forgotten.
Chikane (the dark haired girl) is absolutely a predecessor for Homura from Madoka Magica. She is so tortured... she tries for ages to swallow down her feelings for Himeko and believes that she just wants her to be happy, since Himeko is in love with a perfectly nice boy (who is a mecha pilot since this is technically a mecha anime). But finally her feelings bubble up too far with disastrous consequences. It's very painful... I'm not a very good critic of this anime because I know it has a lot of weak points and is not for everyone, but somehow these girls resonate with me so much... if nothing else, try listening to the ending theme and enjoy the yuri feels hehe. It's called Agony which is very fitting.
I should recommend at least one visual novel, so today I feel like recommending Salome's Kiss, which is a western yuri visual novel.
This VN hurt me so bad. It's set in Victorian times. The main character is a lesbian governess and is terrified of being outed, so after she begins to develop feelings for her pupil, she has no choice but to run away and begin teaching someone else--who she also begins to fall for. This story is very gothic and has an awful awful twist at the end. If you want pain and misery then this is the VN for you...
