Job Application Wanting a Basic Answer: “What makes you unique?” My Overthinking Brain: “What does make me unique? I mean, anyone can do this thing and that thing...” ...Can job applications just. NOT ask questions like these? I’ve already got plenty of existential crises going on, I don’t need extra.
this is the third job app (out of four) that i’ve filled out today and at this point i’m just going to say i know abt virginia/us government history through my pirates history course in undergrad. even tho the real answer is “i don’t have to know everything about virginia rn bc i, as a child of the 21st century and ALSO as a person with a master’s degree in INFORMATION SCIENCES, can just google what i don’t know. lol.”
Not sure who might need this, but the US Department of State clarifies different levels of language proficiency. Good to know if you’re applying to a government job or just any job! Sometimes it’s hard to describe your ~skillz~

IM EMPLOOOOOOOOOOOYEDDDDDDDD!!!
We did it y’all!!
While the job is not at all something I give a shit about 🤷🏼♀️
ITS MONEY FOR FOOD!!! And my ridiculous apt. And health benefits!
So I’m more than happy about with it.
It’s been a strange old week. Dissertation work took a back seat while I got some job applications in before their deadlines, leaving me feel a bit rubbish about my academic work. Today I got the last application in, then went for a beautiful walk with mum to reset a bit. Ready for a necessarily super-productive week now
hey, 2020 grads:
you know how when you’re applying for jobs they have a list of “required” qualifications? and you look at em and think “fuck, i like this job but i don’t exactly hit the requirements”?
yeah that list is. a. lie. it’s the employers “wish list.” for example, they’ll say “3+ years experience with *insert software*” but honestly if you have ANY experience they’ll still consider you!
so go ahead, apply anyways!!
dude i hate the paylocity app my workplace forces us to use. i go to check who im working with for the day so i can emotionally and mentally prepare, expecting to see a list of my coworkers, HOWEVER i just get a list of everyone working at our company.
me: "who am i working with today?"
piece of shit app: "jody in the laundry department across the street. fuck you" *spits in my face through my phones camera*
