Aperçu of the week:
Everybody said it couldn't be done. Then someone came along who did not know that and just did it (origin unknown).
Bad news of the week:
152 million children worldwide still suffer from child labour - half of them under serious conditions that permanently damage their development. We are also talking about five-year-olds working in mines for lithium for our battery technology. Working? Being abused!
In the current crisis, a wave of poverty is expected to destroy the future of every sixth child from the outset. The even more precarious labour market situation in Third World countries due to the Corona crisis is forcing many minors to have to contribute to family maintenance. As many schools are closed at the same time, most of these children will become "drop outs", so never return to school again. Whereby access to education is known to be the key against preprogrammed poverty.
Right now, importers in the developed world need to critically review their supply chains to prevent this from continuing even harder. And consumers of cotton products or oranges would have to demand - and pay for - fair trade. Chocolate, for example, would be a third more expensive if it came from sources that demonstrably exclude child labour. And at the same time are operated sustainably. In fact a low price...
Good news of the week:
Many companies are currently experiencing the positive effect that home office actually works - and does not pose a significant threat to productivity, since not every second employee watches Netflix or prefers to do housework. And many employees are currently experiencing the positive effect that home office really works - and thanks to modern technology does not leave them isolated or doesn't drive them into unpaid overtime thanks to a little self-organization. The first companies, such as Twitter, have already announced that they will continue to offer their employees the option of home office even after the end of social distancing measures. So this is good news for the work-life balance.
Another promising work model for the future is job sharing, for example, in order to reconcile job and family. Here, too, we are only at the beginning, because all too often children are still seen as career killers and educational work is not taken seriously. The German Foreign Office provides a great example: the two lawyers in the diplomatic service, Natalie Kauther and Adrian Pollmann, are not only parents of three teenage kids, but will soon be job-sharing colleagues. For they will be sharing the German ambassadorial post in Slovenia for the next four years. This will not only allow them to develop professionally, but also to be there for their children concurrently. And they will be at the same time ambassadors for a brave new world of work.
Enough with endless onboarding processes. With 3 quick steps, you have all set to start experiencing GNRSystems.
