“What are you doing?” you shot Joel a questioning look as you looked over your shoulder at him, hovering behind you.
“I was trying to peek at the new script?” he seemed unsure of his excuse and shrugged before walking out of the room.
The hairs on the back of your neck stood up as you watched him leave. The next few days you caught Joel lurking behind you on several occasions. You would have said something but he always seemed to disappear before you could.
You wanted to talk to someone about this. You wanted to talk to Joel really but he was never around when you wanted to actually talk. Instead, you decided on talking to the next best person.
“Hey, Adam?” you asked as you walked into his office.
The large bearded man looked up, widely as if he had not expected anyone to enter his office even though you frequented it often, “Hey, Y/N. What’s up?”
You decided to be upfront, “Is Joel a vampire?”
Adam nearly choked on the coffee he was drinking, “I’m sorry. What?”
“Is Joel a vampire?” You repeated calmly.
He set down his drink and shot you a look, “What makes you say that?”
“Um, have you met him? Doesn’t seem to age, I’ve never seen him in daylight, works weird hours, disappears and appears out of nowhere,” you listed.
Adam just chuckled, clearly not taking you seriously, “It’s Joel. Sure, he’s weird but he’s not a vampire. I’ve seen him in the sun. I’ve even seen him eat garlic.”
You narrowed your eyes, “You’re not a vampire too, are you?”
Adam sighed, “You’re really convinced about this aren’t you?”
You crossed your arms and gave him a cold, hard stare.
Adam stood, giving a heavy sigh and looked behind you, “I told you to be more careful.”
“Who are you talking to?” you went to turn but jumped as Adam, grabbed your arms, pinning you to the chair. You struggled against him, “Adam, this isn’t funny you’re hurting me.”
“You shouldn’t have pushed. I liked you. Too bad so does he,” Adam shot you an apologetic look.
“Who are you talking about?! Help!” you cried out.
“Struggling won’t help you. It’s best to just give in. Less painful,” a familiar voice whispered into your ear.
You turned and gasped, “Joel?!”
“To be fair, you figured it out faster than most. A shame though. I liked you,” Joel grinned, a set of fangs growing.
You let out an ear piercing scream as he leaned down and sank his teeth into your neck.
How about Joel H & reader being bestfriends/boyfriend girlfriend in high school but they went separate ways after they graduated and the gang surprises Joel at an RTX panel with the reader? (that got long-winded, sorry! I love your writing<3)

“Burnie are you sure about this? I mean sure I never got over us splitting up when we left for college, honestly my biggest regret,” you rambled on as your friend led you through a long, empty hallway of the convention center. “But at this point, the only time I hear from Joel is on my birthday and Christmas. Still, sends me gifts. Okay, he occasionally sends me letters too. Won’t give me his address though hence why I hunted you down and send presents for him to you.”
Burnie paused and chuckled before turning to you, “Honestly, I believe the two of you are meant to be. I’ve spent the last ten years playing messenger for the two of you. I was so excited when you reached out to me years ago because I finally got to meet the girl Joel was and is still in love with.”
You rolled your eyes, “Yeah? What makes you think he still feels that way?”
Burnie grinned as if he had been waiting for you to ask that question, “You know since meeting Joel he’s never had a relationship for more than a month. Yet I came to find out you had practically dated since you were six though you made it officially in high school. Joel told me all about it in a drunken rant one night.”
“Of course he did,” you sighed but the smile was evident on your face.
“Listen,” Burnie began, “I’ve known Joel a long time. Not as long as you but I can tell he’s missing something in his life. He’s been missing something for a very long time now. I think that something is you. Now if you don’t want to see him I’ll happily take you to the airport and not mention a word to him but if this is about you doubting he wants to see you. Trust me. He’s going to lose his mind, What little bit he has left. He right on the other side of these doors. So?”
You paused looking at the doors behind Burnie. It had been years since you had seen Joel. The day you left for college was the last time you saw each other in person. Since then you wrote to one another on occasion. Joel refused to give you his number like the intimacy of your letters. Though he did agree a handful of times to video chat but now here he was on the other side. You were worried you’d ruin the last good thing you had with him.
Finally, you looked at Burnie and nodded, “Letters can only get a girl by for so long. Let’s do this.”
Burnie’s smile grew as he clapped a hand on your shoulder, “You won’t regret this. Ellie will let you know when to go on stage. Good luck.”
“Hey, Burnie,” you stopped him as he began to open the door to the stage. “Thanks.”
“It was my pleasure,” he nodded and headed out.
You felt like you were waiting forever with Ellie forever in the side hall. Your heart pounded as you tried to listen but you weren’t getting much through the thick metal doors. Occasionally you could pick out Joel’s voice though it was muffled too.
After what felt like hours but in reality was only minutes Ellie nodded and cracked the door open.
You peeked out as you caught Burnie at the end of some sort of speech, “I figured with RTX being one of our favorite weekends and a weekend of surprises I thought we could bring Joel one of what I think will be one of his favorite surprises.”
You could only imagine the confusion on Joel’s face as a murmur went through the crowd.
You climbed the stairs, legs shaky. You spotted the open chair next to Joel and slipped into it as he was still distracted by Burnie. There were a few screams though you were sure no one knew who you were. You grabbed the mic and kept your eyes on Joel.
“So, what is it?” Joel asked suspiciously.
“Yeah, I’m curious myself. It better be good,” you finally spoke up.
Joel whipped around so fast you nearly fell out of your chair in pure surprise.
“Y/N,” he reached out, touching your arm to make sure you were real.
“Hey,” you greeted softly, still full of nerves but they slowly melted away with the way Joel was smiling at you.
“For those of you who don’t know who this is, which is most likely all of you, this is Y/N one of Joel’s best friends and high school sweetheart,” Burnie announced.
There was a chorus of awes in the crowd. Joel reached out under the table and took your hand, lacing your fingers together. The gesture took you right back to high school.
He stood, bringing you up with him and led you right back off stage.
You could hear the rest of the panels making jokes as Joel pulled you back into the hallway. Ellie was gone now. You looked up to Joel. He looked older than you remembered but you were sure you did too.
“Sorry, if I over stepped. Burnie said-”
You didn’t get to finish your sentence. Joel was kissing you and before your brain could even catch up you were kissing him back. He backed you up against the wall, deepening the kiss. It was like the two of you were trying to catch up on every missed moment.
When he finally pulled away for air you laughed softly, “Glad the feeling is mutual.”
He laughed and smiled, stealing a few quick kisses, “Very mutual. I know this is going to sound like a line but do you want to go back to my hotel room? We can talk or do more of this. I just want to spend as much time as I can catching up with you.”
“Do you have anything you're supposed to be doing after this?” you questioned.
“Uh,” Joel looked up as he tried to think then back to you, “Honestly, I can’t remember.”
“Lead the way,” you told him, taking his hand once more with a smile so big it hurt your cheeks.
Joel laughed and stole one more kiss before speed walking down the hall, towing you behind him.
Could you do a Joel h x reader? A first kiss or flirting at the office? Thank you!

“Hey, Joel,” you smiled setting a cup of fresh coffee down in front of him. He looked away from his screen to the coffee to you, eyeing you suspiciously.
“What’s this for?” he asked cautiously, taking the cup and sniffing it before taking a drink.
You chuckled, “You asked for it.”
He looked up at in surprise and raised an eyebrow, “I did?”
“Yeah. Well, in a way. I said I was going to lunch and asked if you wanted anything. You said more sleep so since I couldn’t buy you more sleep I got the next best thing,” you shrugged.
Joel seemed to relax and even smile as he took another sip off coffee, “Well, thank you.”
“Anytime. I’ll see you around,” you flashed him one more smile before leaving his office.
A few hours later Joel entered your office and placed a coffee on your desk, sitting in one of the empty chairs in front of you.
“Thank you?” you looked up at Joel confused as you took the coffee. “What’s this for?”
Joel shrugged, “You always get me coffee or food. I wanted to return the favor.”
“It’s no problem but,” you gave him a cheeky smile and leaned forwards, “You could aways repay me with dinner or taking me to coffee.”
“Why would-” Joel began but it hit him suddenly and his smile grew, “Oh. Oh, I got you. Were all those ploys to get me to like you?”
You grinned a little wider and nodded but gave a flirtatious, “Maybe.”
“Trying to get me to ask you out or something?” he narrowed his eyes, keeping his playful nature.
“Perhaps,” you continued coyly.
“Why not ask me out yourself?” Joel raised an eyebrow.
You paused and leaned back in your chair thoughtfully, “You know what. You got me. Joel Heyman, would you like to go get dinner together sometime?”
Joel pretended to think about it for a minute then nodded, “I would love that.” He stood and headed for the door. He turned back to you, “One condition.”
Him making you promise not to buy gifts for him for any special occasions but then showering you with presents
Him using his Caboose voice in bed once. Only once because you went to bed right after he did the voice. He now only does it when he’s trying to make you laugh
Jon begging you to be OTS to help control him. When you agree all you can do is encourage the havoc
When either of you is away he’s constantly texting or calling you. When you finally asked him about it, he admitted he does it because he misses you. “All the time?” “All the time.”
Him laying on top of you or hugging you constantly. He especially loves to do it during meetings or on panels
Burnie pointing out how smiley he gets every time he sees you. Joel tried to stop so he’d stop pointing it out but it's only gotten worse over time
Reader taking care of Joel after episode 99 of on the spot. Maybe smut if you want I don't care really.

“Y/N!” you heard your name shouted in a very Caboose sounding voice.
“Joel!” you shouted back at your friend with a laugh. You jingled your keys, “Ready to go?”
He frowned and you opened your mouth to ask what was wrong but he was quick to answer, “I want to but I have to do On The Spot.”
You smirked and crouched down so you were eye to eye with him as he sat in his chair on the empty set, “Joel, darling, you already played On The Spot. Everyone went home.”
Joel’s eyebrows furrowed at your statement and he slowly looked around, realization dawning on him, “You’re here to take me home.”
You nodded with a laugh, “I am. How much did you have to drink?”
You helped Joel stand and he gave a little wobble as he did so using you to steady himself on.
“Not much. Did we win?” he questioned though you knew he didn’t care if he did or not, “Have I ever told you, you’re really pretty?” he questioned getting closer to your face.
You blushed and wrapped an arm around Joel so he could lean on you even though he was half a foot taller.
Joel took the queue to start walking as you answered, “You’ve mentioned it once or twice.”
“That’s it? That’s a shame. I probably get scared because you’re too pretty,” Joel went on as you two made your way into the parking lot and the warm Austin air.
You were practically buzzing at this confession but trying to not to let your hopes up as you causally asked, “Oh yeah? What else?”
You could have flat out ask Joel how he felt about you. He wasn’t going to remember a thing in the morning. He was too far gone.
“I just- Every time I see your face. I just want to kiss it and ask you out. You’d never say yes. Even if you did you don’t want to date a mess like me,” he sighed, stopping at your car.
Your heart was pounding at this point. You had a crush on Joel since you started working at Rooster Teeth and here he was confessing everything but you couldn’t take advantage of him like this.
“Hey, Joel?” you got his attention as he buckled himself in, door still open to the car.
“Hmm?” he looked over at you and you leaned into the car and pressed a soft kiss to his lips.
“Don’t give up so easily,” you told him hoping he’d at least remember in the back of his mind somewhere.
He wouldn’t but he certainly was going to dream about those lips of yours tonight.
HAVE YOU SEEN RELATIONSHIP GOALS, YET? HAVE YOU SEEN IT? It's so good, fam. So good. Do you think you could write something with the reader and Joel being on the show? Like they talk about how they have quite an age gap or somethin idk but damn are they cute

You stood across from Joel waiting for your introduction from Geoff and Griffon. You could see Joel across the opening trying to focus and all you could do was pull faces at him. He tried hard not to look but couldn’t help but keep peeking at you and try not to smile.
“Y/N and Joooel?” Griffon sang.
Your eyes widened as you realized you had missed your queue and so you ran out and posed, “Ta da!”
Joel followed you shaking his head, navigating around you and heading towards the couch. You heard the crew laugh and took a bow before joining Joel.
“So what happened back there?” Griffon asked.
Joel looked to you and you just grinned proudly, “I was distracting Joel which in turn distracted me so there’s that.”
“Flashing a little something?” Geoff joked.
Griffon rolled his eyes but ignored him, “So tell us a little about your relationship? How long have you been together?”
Joel looked to you again and you answered, “Officially two years and 27 days.”
“Just wait until you get to two years and 28 days. It’s all downhill from there,” Geoff joked.
Joel reached over and took your hand, “I think it was downhill for her since the day she met me.”
You rolled your eyes, “Was not. All uphill from day one. Some bumps here and there but never down.”
“Speaking of day one how did the two of you meet? First impressions?” Griffon continued on.
You smiled over at Joel, “I knew who he was when I first met him. He’s freaking Caboose and I was just a lowly machinator who had been a fan for years. I was starstruck and embarrassed to be introduced to him while wearing a Captian Caboose shirt.”
“And now you’re just embarrassed to date him,” Geoff laughed.
“Sometimes. I think he gets more embarrassed by me. I mean I had a crush from the start and I’m still crushing just a lot harder now,” you squeezed your boyfriend’s hand.
“Well, clearly it was love at first sight for Y/N, what about you Joel?” Griffon prompted.
“I knew something was up from day one. I didn’t know what since she barely said two words and we all know what an awkward human I was but I never forgot meeting her. I slowly found excuses to help with RVB and get near her and one day while she was trying and failing to teach me how they use mocapping or machinating or something I was just I like this girl so I got up and walked away,” Joel narrated.
“And he didn’t come back for a month until he had to and he stuck around after that,” you added.
“Only because I realized the feelings weren’t going to go away,” Joel defended.
Griffon laughed, “Wait. Wait. You left and didn’t talk to her for a month because you thought your feelings would just leave?”
“It makes since,” Joel cried.
You shook your head and pat the top of his hand with your free one.
“So my next thing I want to bring up,” Griffon began, “Something we haven’t had on this show yet. A large age gap. How does that work for you guys? How does it make you feel?”
You took lead, “I never cared about it. My parents thought it was a little odd but once they met Joel they loved him. I mean we obviously get comments about it but I could careless. I’m way past the legal age that I don’t think it’s creepy. It’s only twelve years.” Joel let go of your hand to put his face in his hands and shake his head. “One of us does clearly feel strange about it.”
“After more than two years you still feel weird,” Griffon prompted.
Joel pulled his hands from his face, “Yeah. I was thirty when Y/N became legal. Anyone who sees a thirty-year-old with an eighteen-year-old thinks maybe I should call the cops.”
“But we’re not eighteen and thirty,” you pointed out.
“Yeah. I just feel creepy sometimes. You’re so young and full of life and I hate everything and have gray hair,” Joel added.
You took both of Joel’s hands in your own and looked him in the eyes, “Do you love me?”
“Of course I do,” Joel gave you a sincere look.
“And I love you so what I’m younger. Throw numbers out the window. I know that’ll be hard for you but do it,” you squeezed his hands.
“Okay,” he said unsurely.
“What do you love about me?” you questioned.
Joel looked around but then back to you and answered, “You’re so beautiful like I can’t believe I get to see you naked beautiful. Multiple times.”
“You flushed and rolled your eyes, “Keep going.”
He didn’t hesitate this time, “You take care of me and care about me. You bring light into my life. You like to just stay shut in at home with me. You make worry less about everything. Oh, you do this cute thing when you orga-”
You let go of Joel’s hands to cover his mouth, “That’s for at home. But even if you included that does anything you said involve age.” Joel shook his head, “Then stop worrying about it.”
He sighed as you dropped your hands. He nodded and took your hand again and laced your fingers. It was his way of saying he understood. You both know he’d still worry but it’d be less now.
The rest of the show flowed smoothly and age was left alone. It was the final portion and you were in the home stretch. Over the course of the hour, Joel had melted into you but it was your turn to ‘Kiss & Make Up’ so he sat up straight.
He looked at you expectantly and you spoke up first, “Joel, I promise when we’re out of the house and I say five more minutes I will mean five more minutes and not an hour then we can go. My relationship goal for us is just to keep falling in love a little more each day and to never lose that love.”
Joel was giving you a genuine smile. “Y/N,” he began, “I promise I will do my best to not count the days that operate us in age anymore. My relationship goal for us is to eventually get married. Not now. Probably not soon but this is my promise that one day.”
You were stunned by Joel’s confession and nearly kept forward as you went to kiss him.
“I don’t think we can top an ending like that so goodbye,” Geoff waved to the camera.

Joel was currently flopped across the table, his focus clearly not on the panel at all. Every once in awhile though his focus would causal drift over to you in the front row and he gives you a smile and practically giving you heart eyes.
You would always smile back or blow a kiss before turning back to whoever was talking.
Joel suddenly shot straight up and grabbed his mic.
“I-I-I have something to add, say,” Joel completely interrupted Burnie mid-story. You laughed along with the crowd as he went on, “I think this panel needs a lady.”
Burnie, Gus, Matt, and Geoff all turned to Joel completely confused.
“This is the Founding Fathers panel but sure who were you thinking?” Gus threw up his hands in disbelief.
“Y/N!” Joel turned to you as the crowd did, “Y/N come here. Come on.” He pat the chair next to him. You flushed and shook your head no.
“Y/N we all know he’s not going to stop until you come up,” Burnie sighed and waved you up.
You willed your blush away as best you could as you stood. “You know you’re only enabling him,” you shouted up at him.
Burnie shrugged as the crowd laughed. You climbed the stage and took the spot next to Joel. Joel smiled proudly and you just poked his nose.
“You’re trouble,” you told him softly and he shrugged as he went to messing with the mic between the two of you as Burnie launched back into his story.
Joel laid his head on your shoulder and you combed through his hair gently as the panel went on. Joel seemed to focus and answered all the questions directed at him as if he wasn’t laying on you. You were well aware of all the phones focused on the two of you.
A timid girl stepped up to the microphone next and looked at the two of you, “I know this doesn’t have to do with the founding fathers but I was wondering Joel and even Y/N how you started dating. I mean a lot of us know you met on the set of Day 5 but we don’t know anything else.”
Joel looked to you and you pulled the microphone a little closer as Joel sat up for a minute, “So a lot of people know Joel is a very touchy person. I, on the other hand, don’t like being touched at all which not a lot of people know. Well, the first day Joel sort of flopped on me and I cringed but I didn’t say anything. He did it a few more times then he pulled me aside one day after shooting. He didn’t ask what was wrong but instead just pretty much pointed out I don’t like being touched and I admitted to him I didn’t. From there the rest of shooting, he didn’t touch me unless he asked first. I thought it was sweet so our last day together we were sitting down and watching the current scene being filmed and I laid my head on his shoulder. I grew comfortable with him and now it’s not a good day unless Joel lays on me. So I knew I wanted to date him when he took the time to make me that comfortable.”
There was some awwing and clapping and you took Joel’s hand under the table and he smiled at you.
“I just thought Y/N was super cute and super soft,” Joel answered with a cheeky smile.
There were a few more questions then the panel ended. You exited with Joel tailing right behind you. The second you were alone Joel pulled you into a tight embrace before kissing you.
“This is still alright?” he asked holding you as close as possible.
You nuzzled against him softly, “Beyond alright. It’s perfect.”
