My favourite novels:
A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara. Trigger warning for basically everything. A big gay angsty novel about four friends growing up in New York starting from the end of college to the end of their lives.
Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir. Lesbian necromancers and it’s a series.
The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller. The tragic love story of Achilles and Patrolocus.
The Grownup by Gillian Flynn. This is a short story but I’m obsessed with it. It’s about a h**ker posing as a fake psychic whose hired to deal with a haunted house. She starts to worry that the house is actually haunted and forms a troubling relationship with the son of the woman who hired her.
Let the Right One In by John Lindqvist. In Sweden, a bullied little boy befriends and falls in love with a little girl who only plays on the jungle gym outside his apartment complex at night. People start disappearing around the same time. Spoiler: the little girl is actually a little boy so this is a gay romance.
The Power by Naomi Alderman. A dystopia where women develop the ability to shoot electric shocks from their hands, and women quickly rise to power and become the dominant gender.
Vicious by V.E. Schwab. Two college best friends learn how to create superhuman abilities and then when they grow up, become arch enemies.
A Secret History by Donna Tartt. Our very normal protagonist starts attending a pretentious college and quickly gets sucked into an obsessive but interesting group of friends. Murder occurs.
