Reading the Death Troopers Star Wars book, which deals with a zombie plague breaking out on an Imperial prison barge, and something I haven't really seen mentioned:

There's a point where the Zahara Cody (who is immune and a medical officer) stabs one of the zombified victims in the eye with a syringe containing the antivirus, and he reverts for a moment, trying to speak to her and write something down for her.

Wouldn't that imply that they're not completely dead, like some semblance of the person remains in that rotting, infected husk under the control of the hive mind?
