Well, since it's spooky month and all, I decided to reshare my fan Bad Batch comic I made in 2023. The Bad Batch: Code Black!

A short story based on a What If scenario if Tech was infected by the Plague of Madness from Primal.

So today, I bring you the first ten pages of the story. Enjoy!

One thing I wonder about is how Dirk Gently obviously knew the Rowdy3, Mona, Project Moloch, etc. But, didn’t recognize Bart???

Makes me wonder more about the timeline. Was she not there at the same time, or for as long? Or, maybe, she was kept separate because they didn’t fully understand her powers, and saw her as a danger to the others??? Did they not let her socialize? It could also explain her aggression. Makes me sad to think about, sorry!!!

i have so many thoughts about dghda and age, first off the blackwing gang(TM) never realy understand it (eg. vogel saying he can be amanda's grandson) and ALSO

since we don't have the official ages of the blackwing folk, this is what i feel each character gives off (and i'm not counting francis, bcs we know how old he is and he's def the oldest)

first we have the OG rowdy 3, who are probably around late 30s to 40s

then i actually think mona could be older too. think about it, she's literally a shapeshifter so is technically ageless.

y'all know i'm obsessed with dirk/mona being found family siblings, that's why i think mona would be older than dirk/bart/vogel. idk dirk just gives off younger brother energy, and i think because of that mona did a lot to protect him in blackwing, yk bcs she's like a god essentially. bcs of this i always saw her as an older sister type, bcs i feel thé sheer power of her was so often used to protect dirk in blackwing.

now i'm like a firm believer in dirk and bart being the same age. like, their abilities parallel eachother so much it makes sense if the universe decided to drop 'em both onto earth at the same time (i would even not necessarily doubt bart and dirk being biological siblings, but that's just a bit too off canon for me to fully adopt dkfjdjf)

and then i think vogel is def the youngest, just because (iirc) riggins/preist/freidken/someone mentioned that when vogel joined blackwing was when the project became too unstable, causing the initial breakout. so clearly, there was alot of time before vogel joined.

again obv just a theory (a GAME theory) and i would gen love everyone else's thoughts

yknow what i absolutely love about dghda? how socially unaware all the former blackwing subjects are. like these guys have no clue what to do in normal society and that absolutely makes sense

dirk is the most well adjusted out of all of the ones we know of and even he climbs into this random guy's apartment through the window, immediately calls him his assistant and then declares that he lives there now. he's clueless. he wants friends but he doesn't know how to talk to people, even after 16 years lived in freedom

and then there's bart and the rowdy 3

bart doesn't know how radios and tvs work, nor what hotels are. all she's known her whole life is blackwing labs and the fact that she's supposed to kill people. so that's what she does. she doesn't know how to talk to people, she just goes with the flow

and of course the rowdy 3, the absolute icons. unlike dirk, who wants to be a part of society, and bart, who really doesn't care, they actively reject social norms. they saw punk culture and ran with it. they're rude, violent and, well, rowdy. and they like that. but they're also stupid in the way that you would be if you grew up in a lab with (probably) next to no real education. none of them have any functioning braincells or social grace and that works for them

i didn't talk about mona or francis/moloch bc we don't really have a real frame of reference for either of them. mona is an inanimate object 99% of the time and francis has been in a coma for several decades

the colours on the blackwing jumpsuits are absolutely supposed to indicate a danger level to the projects

like dirk has orange. only friedkin needed to go and he didnt even say anything. clearly orange is deemed a low threat (at least in terms that the project themselves doesnt have powers that can hurt you, which dirk doesnt, he can just end up in locations tht cause violence)

the rowdy three have red and as riggins says Normally, confronting these subjects would be a 40-man operation. I'd want 10 men for every one of them. so red means dangerous but can be managed

bart and mona both have light blue. weapons and armies cant work on them. theyre two powerful and regular people arent gonna touch them. however what does seem to work? talking *cough*manipulating*cough* building a meaningful relationship. both priest and ken get this and the way they interact with bart. and ken (i also think because he survived bart he thinks can survive mona- which yeah he did but still) interacts with mona in a careful way using certain words to get on her good side (using dirk specifically)

i dont know if the blacks/whites of the jumpsuit means anything though

headcanon: in blackwing, bart never let anyone brush her hair because she didn’t like the feeling, the tugging and tediousness, and no one could force her — because she's bart. in order to manage her hair somehow, they would shave it off every month, keeping it in a short buzzcut; the only person ever able to get close enough to do that was osmund priest. the low buzzing and the steady hand movements were one of their older brother & little sister rituals. she never cared for looks, so she took it fine, but the adults cringed (only a little bit, because they never cared for bart) at how it made her look even more like a prisoner than the others.

after getting out she stopped having it cut, mainly because it's a hassle and she can't be bothered; she hasn't done it once in all of sixteen years since. sometimes, when she finds a knot in her hair big enough to be annoying, she cuts it out with the nearest sharp object, and that's why the hair hasn't gotten past her shoulders in length.
