things the Vanyar do: have names more similar to each other than seems the usual elf zeitgeist. Because I have decided they do casual-osanwe the most heavy-handedly, for no reason. Possibly have only one name (possibly just the epesse) since osanwe renders names a (wait for it) nominal identifier. The important designation of a person is the sensory impression people telepathically pass around when they talk about you. ie petrichor-david and garbage-disposal-noise david.
I think this was much more a done thing in Cuivienen before Melkor made casual-osanwe as a primary mode of communication Fraught and was more common again in Aman.
That said.
things the Noldor do: spell Caitlyn as CVIIIlyn, anyway, just because.
Claire’s been at the bar for the last hour, meeting with Ben about another case. Doesn’t seem things are going his way so he’s letting her in on it while he goes back into research mode. They’re at a table in the corner by the bar and she asks him if he wants to stick around for drinks. He declines, wanting to get a head start hitting the books. She shrugs, says her goodbyes and starts towards the bar. When the bartender gets to her she orders some scotch and tells him to keep it coming. It’s the last night before she’s got to focus on the case so, of course, she wants to let loose.
