Fanfic pet peeve: Watson is not an idiot...  I hate when writers do that. Sherlock is way smarter than him, yes. However, Watson’s not dumb.  A toddler is not smarter than a fucking grown man even if they are a genius and would probably out paced him, just not then.... John’s IQ maybe  is on the 125–135 range which means his IQ is on the five percentile.  He’s a doctor for crying out loud. You know how hard it is  to be a doctor In  the UK, very hard. It's a cutthroat competitive environment.

In my humble opinion, Robert Sean Leonard’s James Wilson is the best iteration of the Watson archetype.

One of the worst things BBC Sherlock could do was have John have an affair, even if it was just emotionally, because that was unlike the loyal John we’d all come to love. 

The other thing was to kill Mary to further the plot/character growth of men.

The top of the list was to do those two things in that order.
