So my son is a little young for this but I’m really looking forward to playing our new Lost Words card game with family & friends! The game uses the same illustrations from the wonderful nature book of the same name published by the @johnmuirtrust . I love love the beautiful drawings of kingfishers, otters, brambles in the cards/ the book and I don’t mind admitting the conker spell/ poem makes me quite emotional! ⠀ In terms of gameplay, each player is given a hand of cards, and then the aim of the game is to match all your nature (picture) cards with the correct spell (or poem) cards before your opponent(s) do! Driving home from Sutherland yesterday we stopped in Pitlochry for a quick pit stop (and so I could visit the whisky shop!) and spotted this in the window of the @johnmuirtrust it's the annual #johnmuirtrust #wildnature #diary for 2018, nothing remarkable there you might say, except that I'd just spent the week in Sutherland with the #photographer who's #photograph is featured on the front cover, as well as several inside too, @teenymeaniejeanie (at Pitlochry)

Day 8: I'm on my Way! Met a lovely man on his morning walk who snapped this photo for me. Day 7: Spent some time in the National Museums Scotland. I ended up asking one staff members if they have any artifacts from the Dunbar Castle or the town. We then rallied up a few other folks in their Research Lab and gave me books to read 😍📚sadly couldn't find much in the way of artifacts but they were super excited to help me and hear about my journey! 🎉 I'll get on the Way tomorrow; 3 more days to go with only 41 miles left! #johnmuirway #dunbar #rainyday #neverstoplearning #johnmuirtrust #nationalmuseumscotland (at National Museums Scotland)

Day 2: Walked through more forests to be cut. I will reduce my paper products consumption after seeing this! It's quite breathtaking to see the magnitude of forest plantations have on the land. The Traveling Tree is BACK!

After a number of years away from sharing my adventures, I am excited to come back to the blogging-journaling-photographing world! I have a number of thrilling adventures planned over the next couple of months where I will be posting my experiences, thoughts and, of course, photos! 

First up: I am solo walking (’hiking’ if you are in the States) the John Muir Way in Scotland. It’s 134 miles from Helensburgh to Dunbar, John Muir’s birthplace. In summary, it’s a walk between Glasgow and Edinburgh/Dunbar. This walk holds a special meaning to me since this will be my first solo long distance walk (approx. 10 days!) and well as you might know already, I have a deep appreciation for John Muir and his values on our environment. I’m not quite ready to tackle the infamous John Muir Trail in California but who wouldn’t want to walk through the most accessible parts of Scotland and see John Muir’s birthplace?! In addition to having a personal achievement to this walk, I will be gaining recognition through the John Muir Trust and their John Muir Award scheme. I am excited to be a part of an organization who’s values mesh so well with my own; working “to defend wild land, enhance habitats and encourage people of all ages and backgrounds to connect with wild places”.  I begin my walk 31 May and will try to post throughout (pending how long my phone lasts and internet) !
