Callum had more chemistry with the dancing guy than he does with Johnny. Why is Johnny just gloomily looking at him? You have him for fucks sake what's left? He's divorced, Tim is gone what else? I thought he was sad because of Linda but he couldn't stop looking at Callum?

Did he feel jealous? I don't even know anymore.

It is interesting that dancing guy Callum was dancing with was the guy in the spoiler pic holding Johnny and not the drunk guy. I assumed the "gallantry" (from the spoilers) would be Callum saving Johnny from a drunk come on but I guess it's just gallantry towards Linda? I'll accept that.

Still weird why he's looking at Callum like that. We know by the end of the week they're both happy at Elaine's party. Not a big fan of them holding each other by their hands on each other's back. It's not cuddly like Ben and Callum were but it's just awkward.

The way this show goes I'll be surprised if Johnny doesn't propose next week on their "anniversary". Fucking bullshit that they made it on Pride. Ben Wadey you're an extra huge asshole for that. Then again if they count that, Ben and Callum might as well consider their hookup in the park their anniversary and they never did that.

It's either Pride or the day Jonno died or the day Jonno was buried.

Ugh I hate this show. Glad that soap awards show is over, EE deserves nothing.

I don't have strong feelings one way or another about Josh and Oscar. I wish that pairing and their fans luck.

They're just not my type.

They seem popular and that's nice. Clearly the show will push them quite a bit this year, what with the whole love triangle angle. So I'm sure that'll do well.

Only thought I have about the whole thing is that it makes the Callum situation even more inexplicable to me. I don't get why they did the affair and divorce and have stuck him with Johnny.

The show doesn't seem invested in the pairing. They're both playing plot devices for other characters (Johnny with Linda, and Callum with Lexi) but they could be doing that without being in a relationship. Because what is it adding? It's not driving any real conflict or progression for either character.

Moving Callum on from Ben feels pointless if he’s still narratively stuck in the same place, just with a different partner. And since the show doesn’t seem interested in giving either Callum or Johnny meaningful material, it all ends up feeling directionless.

Maybe it's a set-up for a Ben return but I'm still finding that odd.

If Ben isn't coming back anytime soon than what is the long-term future for Johnny and Callum? Why put them into a relationship the show is not invested in and with such limited story potential? Even the low-hanging fruit of the affair/relationship having ripples on their families isn't landing. The Linda stuff seems like contrived nonsense and Lexi hasn't been onscreen enough for any of this to carry weight. Otherwise, nobody else cares about the affair or their relationship.

But say Ben does come back soon, I'm still wondering how they're going to play a love triangle between Ballum and Johnny when there's already another love triangle going on with Josh/Oscar/Jasmine. You'd think a Ballum reunion arc would be a major story, especially with Callum living with Johnny, but the show is already committing to Josh/Oscar. There’s only so much narrative focus to go around, and I'm sure Josh/Oscar will take priority (and fair enough).

If it's to have Johnny/Callum exit the show than they could have accomplished that without all this preamble.

I just find it all so weird. They could easily have just kept Ballum together since clearly the plan was always to have Joscar be a thing.

I would have been fine with a lowkey domestic Ballum storyline if and when Ben decides to come back and let Joscar take the spotlight. And I'd have been equally fine with Joscar being a thing and Callum just being a single dad without Johnny weirdly tacked on to the situation.
