Color TV didn't come to Japan until 1960, but it wasn't a universal thing until around 1971.

Kinjiro was born in 1938, so he'd have been in his mid 20s/early 30s to have first seen color television. Perhaps it's a thing he experienced with his wife.

Okay, I checked the Power Rangers/Sentai wiki and GozyuEagle is the oldest Sentai hero ever (discounting immortals), since Baku Hatakeyama, who played Kirenger in Gorangers, was the earliest born actor in 1944, and for Joji to be 87 in 2025 he'd have to be born in 1938 (on a side note his actor, Masaki Kobayashi is only 75 years old, he was born in 1949)
