it's possible that the "working as a filing clerk in 1972" factoid was not from jon looking it up himself, but something mentioned in a past conversation with elias at some point. he never says in the transcript exactly where he got the information so it still might just have been jonah fucking up his timelines in a conversation

that is true, but he did get the information about fiona and gertrude working there, as well as no one else working there at the time, and then says he ‘followed up’ with elias, so unless he was like ‘hey elias does anybody who worked here in 1972 still work here‘ and then got the info, went away, thought about it, and later returned to follow up with elias, then........
