You say "fuck Edwina"...is she not understandably pissed off???? Why is the person who got her heart broken and fucked over the bad guy???
Before I give my opinion on the matter, let me just say that these are characters in a show based on characters in a book…no one is real so it’s not that serious.
That said, I don’t think Edwina ever really loved Anthony…how could she? She didn’t even really know the true Anthony. I think she was into the idea of him, the idea of being a viscountess, the fancy wedding, and the life Anthony could give her. Plus she herself says (in the church after the botched wedding) that she may not know what love really is but does know what it is not. I know she tells Kate she loves him and he’s the one she wants but I think she just doesn’t want it to fail…if the engagement gets called off, she sees it as a personal failure. So, yea, I don’t think she really loved him.
I do think she has a right to be mad that she was kept in the dark, that Kate basically babied and pitied her, and that Anthony asked her to marry him while he was into her sis. But I don’t think she’s actually heart broken over Anthony.
I think she should have seen that Kate did love him and but loved her so much that she was willing to give Anthony up for Edwina. That’s not cruel. I get why the show creators did what they did…it gives the show more drama. But tbh, I wish they made Edwina a Kathony shipper sooner. She got there eventually…but maybe would not have if not for Kate’s fall.
Finally, wrt this specific scene, in the last dancing round, Kate and Anthony were the last two not paired and so paired with each other. They weren’t flaunting anything in Edwina’s face…it just happened that way. Also, they are just naturally drawn to each other and happy together. If anything, Edwina should have seen the sadness in their faces when they separated and maybe had a reflective moment rather than call Kate cruel.
